Wow. This “hole in the wall” takeout restaurant has fabulous food! A steady stream of regulars were coming in as I was eating my meal. It’s located next to an auto body shop so you have damaged cars everywhere outside . Don’t let the cars keep you away. Kevin, the owner is a very nice and friendly guy. He loves what he does and is dedicated to making great BBQ! The pork butt sandwich plate was outstanding – tender and slow cooked. I got two sides and chose the baked beans and Mac-n-cheese. All for $20. The baked beans were sweet and delicious and the Mac-n-cheese, so good. I wanted the grilled corn but they had already sold out for the day. His massive smoker is located just to the right side of his place. Wood logs are everywhere. Kevin is a true BBQ man. I also bought a slice of a praline pecan pound cake, courtesy of a local cake shop. Wow again. Highly recommend this wonderful “dive” eatery. Note- this is a takeout place with just a few great choices including ribs. Nothing fancy but so worth taking a few minutes to get to from the highway. FYI, almost all 5 Star reviews have been given for Kevin’s great BBQ but add to that friendly, southern hospitality from him and his solid coworker. Don’t be in a hurry as there was a short wait to get a great meal.

This isn’t just the best barbecue I’ve had, it’s the best food in general that I’ve had in a long time. Better barbecue than Wright’s, better than Whole Hog, Corky’s, or any other barbecue place in town. If cooking barbecue was an Olympic sport, this dude would be a repeat gold medalist.

I originally went for a rib or rib tip and link platter. But Kev let me sample some smoked catfish and it is fye. I got the smoked catfish platter with rice and gumbo and a side of garlic green beans. Plus, a smoked link and that thang is huge. Glad I he sliced it for me. Yall gotta go try dem out. Tucked behindhe lounge is cozy and welcoming, decked out in Razorback glory.
The proprietors were friendly and helpful and even brought out samples of the brisket for diners to try. (Gotta go back for more of that!)
And speaking of lunch, my son and I both had the rib meal (four bones and two sides). He went for double mac n cheese and I had green beans and baked beans. Those ribs were perfectly smoked with a nice dry rub and hit our plates just this side of fall off the bone tender. That flavor! There was sauce on the side but they didn’t need it. I tried it anyway and it was solid: a little smokey and a little sweet and worked well with the rub.
Now, let’s talk sides. Those green beans were straight outta my mom’s kitchen: lotsa bacon drippings and black pepper, sprinkled with diced onion. Mercy! The baked beans were dressed up with a touch of their personal sauce and were thick enough to be enjoyed off a fork.

I came here after seeing all the five star reviews and I have to say every one of them is absolutely deserved. I am a chef, my fathers a chef, so id say I have lots of experience with good food. I got pulled pork, ribs, brisket, some potato salad and beans. I wanted to try a little of everything. This is damn good BBQ. You wont regret giving it a try.

If you looking for some good southern style BBQ, go see my boy Kevin. Out of all the baked beans I’ve had, he’s top 3 and he ain’t 3. Mac and cheese was seasoned perfectly and the brisket has that nice smoky flavor to it. I just moved to Sherwood and I will be going back to see Kevin to try his whole menu. Our retired to Central, Arkansas from Memphis, Tennessee, and in case you don’t know, it is considered the capital of the world.
I thought I would never have good barbecue again, but then I discovered Smoky Joe’s box BBQ.
I had the pulled pork barbecue sandwich, which was excellent as well the potato salad and baked beans.
I can’t wait to go back and sample the ribs and the chicken and the sausage.
Don’t hesitate to get to this fine barbecue restaurant as soon as you can, and the owner, Kevin, is so pleasant to talk to and visit with.

As someone who takes immense pride in their BBQ, I have to say Smoke-N-Joe-Box in North Little Rock has set a new standard for me. I spend 6 hours smoking ribs and over 24 hours smoking brisket, and up until now, no one has come close to matching the quality of my BBQ. But today, I found my match.
From the moment I walked in, the smoky aroma was enough to tell me I was in for a treat. The ribs were perfectly tender, with a rich, smoky flavor that penetrated every bite. The brisket was incredibly juicy and packed with a deep, savory taste that only comes from a true mastery of the smoking process.
The sides were just as impressive, complementing the meats perfectly without overshadowing them. The staff was friendly and clearly passionate about what they do, adding to the overall fantastic experience.
