It’s Scary To Remarry
Our first time at Smoke’N Ash BBQ was pretty good. The service was good. The waitress was attentive and friendly. It’s spacious too. I gave the food 3 out of 5 stars.
We had ribs, Mac and cheese, greens, catfish and potato salad. All the food was slightly above average. If you want to try something different, go to Smoke’N Ash BBQ.

This is the first time I went to their new location. My Mom enjoyed the cauliflower tibs with potato and beets and spiced coffee. The chicken tibs was savory and the cabbage with carrots was delicious. I like the injera – it’s light and fluffy. The servers were attentive and helpful. I liked the artwork and decor.

I normally love smoke and ash. This time my husband joined me and he has a tomato allergy. We let the server now about the allergy and I wanted to make sure anything I got I could share with him and anything he got was also OK. We asked a lot of questions about ingredients. We were not at all confident that this experience was going to be OK because the employee kept saying phrases like will this item only has a little bit of tomato paste in it and expected that to be all right. It was a stressful experience. They left off the lamb on the nachos, but did bring us a side of land after we let them know.

The food is genuinely very good and I cannot recommend ordering online enough. The in-person service is abysmal. Not many people in the restaurant with tons of staff, yet it still takes half an hour to get water and an HOUR to get our bill and get it processed. Props to the one woman who was still helping us with silverware and incorrect items even though it was very clearly not her job. The one star for service is for her only. Your time is much better spent ordering ahead instead of being trapped for hours while they struggle to run a card and give you some body else’s card.

I shared a two person combo platter with different meats and sides to try. Delicious smoked meats (all special in their own) , greens, Mac and cheese had some kick, all so tasty!! Glad I have leftovers, gonna go eat some more now:)

Just a quick update from a previous review. MUCH better. Maybe when I came previously with my kiddo they had a bad day – but it was rough, dry, and wasn’t good.
Strangely, I order them on accident from an online service today, thinking it was a different new place. They killed it. Ribs where great, just right, killer spicy Mac (not sure of the name of the spicy version of their mac), everything perfect – even for being delivered. Lamb and brisket was just slighty dry but of course very well seasoned and still good. Id recommend some additional broth or moisture in the cooking process, if they are open to customer feedback. (Still, im so happy I accidentally ordered again). Consistency is important but today they made up for a random BAD day.
Also – add a boiled egg. Spicy, yummy addition to the “pancake”.

Got to speak with the owner a bit, really nice guy. Bbq brisket came out quick, was very juicy, great texture, and flavorful. The bread was buttery and delicious.
The Ethiopian spices used were a unique addition to the classic Texas bbq flavor, I really enjoyed it.

Great fusion restaurant. A favorite of our teen. We love all the side dishes and bread. Everything is delicious and we can highly recommend this unique dinning experience.

we headed to the bar and got a frozen margarita! I got lime and strawberry. It was delicious-a tad in the sweet side but that was expected!
The buffet had BBQ, beans, slaw, and Ethiopian bread.
I think I expected to experience a different type of flavor since this was Ethiopian. However, it tasted like regular pork BBQ. It was good and tasty but honestly tasted like every one else’s BBQ. The baked beans were sweet and tangy and a good side. The coleslaw was definitely different. It was like a yellow cabbage with onions. The flavor was really good. It is a bit spicy which I don’t love but it was good!
The rolled bread was different. It was rolled up like a tortilla and had a different texture to it. They said it was like their version of sour dough. Aside from being a tad sour, I saw no comparison. They said it was good with the sides. I am a visual eater, so I did not really like it but enjoyed trying new things!

Definitely not worth the hype. We traveled way too long and spent too much money on food that was cold and not flavorful at all based on the great reviews of well-known food critics. It was not busy at the time (we came around 4 on a Saturday) yet the staff had little to no urgency to tend to their customers, and some staff members ignored us and the customers sitting behind us because they were “on break”…Okay…
As an avid Ethiopian cuisine eater, this was a let down. :/
I’d give them a 4 if they served hot, fresh, seasoned food and if the staff actually acted like they wanted to do their job.
