This little spot off hwy 6 is the perfect spot for bunch, lunch, or dinner. We recently moved to the area and we love that we can eat good food with a pretty view. Our daughter loves to look out the windows. They are always so kind to her and us.

If you’ve never been it’s a little hard to know that you grab your menu, sit down and then go up to order but once you’ve been once you get the flow! I honestly like this. It’s no pressure with knowing what you want by a certain time. We don’t have a very long wait, maybe 20-25 min. The food was so good, they even removed jalapeños from the mac and cheese for my daughter.

The pork belly tacos when you get bigger bites of meat are to die for! That would be my only ask is to be sure the meat is a full piece as they get charred which isn’t a bad thing when there’s enough meat there.

It’s very rustic and laid back. Good music. The owner even introduced himself to us which in a small town is always nice!

We look forward to more meals here.

I admit I was a little nervous about coming here based on other reviews, but they were on point today. We were greeted right when we came in by kind staff who explained that you order at the counter and then grab a table. We got the wings, 1/2 chicken, “guns” (a double fried potato wedge that was amazing), and fried Brussels with pork belly. Everything was absolutely delicious! That was the best smoked chicken I’ve ever had in my life and the wings were top 3, if not #1, and I am a wing snob. The wait for the food was a tad long, but when you’re getting REAL food made from scratch (no frozen Cysco crap here), it’s worth it. 10/10 will make the hours long round trip many times in the future.

Cool atmosphere. The wings, Mac & Cheese/pork belly, and kids Mac and Cheese were great! Wouldn’t recommend the steak bites/potatoes/pickled onions (see picture: $18 and comes on an appetizer sized plate/mostly potatoes) We ordered two and we were both disappointed in the flavor and size for the $$$. I don’t mind paying $18, to $50 for a meal if it’s worth it and it wasn’t…sorry .skip that one. Last time I came I had the small chicken/mango/onion tacos and they were good. We’d still come back, just not for that.

If you’re expecting a full service restraunt you may be disappointed. You order at the front, get a #, they bring out the food. The employees are wonderful and kind, however other than bringing your meal, picking up dirty dishes, and refills on water or coffee when requested that’s the service. It’s not bad service. It’s just the kind of service it’s designed to give, so expect it when you go. I’d give them a 5 ⭐for personality and kindness, but it asked for a review on “service” and it’s not a place you come for for that.

So far I’ve liked 4 out of five dishes and I’ve gone three times.

Where do I start? The atmosphere at Smokehouse Chicken and Guns is actually quite pleasant — it seems like it would be a cool spot to hang out on a Friday or Saturday night. Unfortunately, the experience overall left much to be desired.

Service was mediocre at best. They were busy, which may explain the lack of attentiveness, but the woman taking orders seemed visibly frustrated when I didn’t instinctively know to grab my own menu and seat myself. Not exactly the warmest welcome.

The menu reads amazing — lots of tempting options and creative descriptions — but sadly, the food didn’t live up to the hype. The half chicken was extremely dry, tasting more like it had been reheated from the day before than freshly smoked. The macaroni and cheese was probably the highlight, which, in my experience, seems to be the safest bet at a lot of smokehouse-style spots.

The kids did enjoy their chicken and waffles initially, but both ended up with upset stomachs later that night, which is concerning. As for the “guns” (the house potato chunks), they were so overcooked they were practically inedible — like biting into small rocks. A shame, because they might have been flavorful if cooked properly. Same goes with the Chilaquiles, burnt.

To top it off, several items we were interested in trying were unavailable — they were out of quite a few things on the menu.

I had really high hopes for this place, and I still believe the owner is trying to make something special here. Maybe it was just an off day. I’m willing to give it one more shot, but this visit was definitely a letdown.

We were heading back on Hwy 6 from Tillamook & stopped here for a bite to eat. Its been there a while (at least since 1980s) but under different ownership of course. It was very warm inside & welcoming. You grab a menu & place an order up front that is delivered to your table. They have a bar area that was busy – even for early evening on a Saturday. We choose their Mac N Cheese & Burger w/Fries. Mac N Cheese is spicy but great cheese flavor. The burger was very tasty & fries as well. If driving down Hwy 6 and you are hungry, this place is a good place to stop. We will be back to try what we didn’t this time around.

Fun place with a great atmosphere. It’s a solid spot to hang out, and the food was good. The eggs were phenomenal, and the potatoes were phenomenal as well. The chicken-fried steak was homemade; I’m a bit neutral on it, mainly because my expectations were different from what came out, so that one’s on me.
Next time I’m in, I’ll be trying the burger—it looks phenomenal.
Being a smaller place, they only have a couple of waitresses who work very hard. If you need anything, it’s perfectly fine to go up to the front, which is expected at a small, local country restaurant.
Everything is hands-on and has a very homey feel. The people who run it are phenomenal.
As mentioned above, when you go in, understand that you’re in the middle of the country. Sometimes you do have to get up and talk to the hostess, because the hostess is also one of the servers. If you’re not okay with that, this probably isn’t the place for you.
Overall, everything about this place is great. I love it, the people are awesome, and taking everything into account, I’d give it an 8 out of 10.

Let me start with the one positive thing, the atmosphere was wonderful. There’s a cute little nook in the bar. Staff is helpful and friendly, burger is delicious a little greasy and delicious, my husband got the chicken fried steak was smaller than my husbands hand even though he has big hands, it was not definitely worth it, and when they brought out a reorder of chicken fried steak my husband didn’t eat it because same thing except smaller portion. “Beignets” were not beignets. I don’t like leaving bad news and the cook needs some practice, other than that great place to go. And to add total bill was $54.00 and they took 10% off I’m truly disappointed.

Nice rustic place, the food was good, BUT I order “Stake & guns”, well stake was just five less than an inch cubes of beef, and plenty of fried potatoes. The potatoes were delicious, but if you are looking for a good source of proteins this is not your plate. My wife chose the Peruvian steak bowl and she said it was delicious.

This is our go-to place after a long bike ride on the Banks Vernonia trail. Chicken is always juicy and tender, and the guns are always crispy and delicious. I tried the flank steak this time, and it was cooked perfectly If you haven’t stopped in for some good grub, then you’re missing out.

Come for the home country atmosphere and better cooking. They have a pool table I want to come use another time since I would love to keep coming back. Don’t just get the chicken and guns cause everything is so tasty. Had hush puppies, chicharrones chips w guacamole , chicken fried steak came with guns fried eggs and the yummy red onions and signature sauce. Seemed to be in good buisness was busy but still relaxing must be all the wood. Counter service. All day breakfast foods.
