We happened upon this location when in the area, and I can’t say we were disappointed. The food was delicious, the service polite, and the atmosphere was welcoming. Bathrooms were very clean. 4 stars strictly based on prices which were on the high side based on portion sizes.

Pulled chicken and pulled pork were both excellent. My husband had the Alabama chicken and raved about how delicious it was. We will go back.

Randomly stumbled upon this place with my boyfriend and I was so excited to try vegan BBQ. I got the vegan BLT, mac and cheese, and fries. Everything was great, but the mac and cheese could use a bit more seasoning. It definitely wasn’t bad – it just didn’t have much flavor. I would suggest adding salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Other than that, it was amazing! They have a great outdoor seating area and an entire vegan menu.
My boyfriend got a chicken wrap and fries. He said it was amazing and would love to go back! Great place for vegans and people who eat meat to both have something they’ll enjoy!

Tried this place today for its vegan choices. Nice people, but they informed us that fathers day is their busiest day of the year… and they were out of a ton of food. The food we could get was decent, but wasn’t very warm. (Bummer) Sauces were amazing. They had Blue Owl desserts which of course were amazing. I think we should try them again on a slower day to give a full on review. So excited for vegan BBQ options in the St. Louis area.

Been here several times and wasn’t ever too disappointed other than the prices. This time though my son and I went he was con into buying a bigger portion of nachos. When I say this it literally cost $40 for what we could’ve gotten for $5 at happy hour somewhere else. The girl behind the counter asked if he wanted a full or half and he had never been asked that question so he said full since that was what the size tray he was used to. Double charge for meat that was hardly put on and nachos that even he could eat because he said they were disgusting.
My beef brisket platter was not hot, very cold and I choked on the mac n cheese due to it being so dry and crusty.
Seriously for $71 ($5 tip) total for two people for nothing but cold nasty mushy food is making us not coming back EVER!!! Also I wanted to say cobwebs everywhere and dust.

Very solid BBQ. Brisket is good, pulled pork is good, sides are above average. Not a huge fan of their sauces, but they are not bad by any means.

Staff that serves you is always friendly and engaging. People that check you out are a little less so.

Space is cool. Very open and woody. I have gone for lunch a couple times and mostly had the place to ourselves. There is a parking lot, but I assume it fills up fast if the place ever gets busy.

I ordered the ribs, Texas potatoes, and slaw — and honestly, it was the best smoked ribs I’ve had in a long time. I was traveling south when a friend from St. Louis recommended Smokee’s, and I’m so glad they did. The ribs were perfectly tender and smokey, the potatoes had that rich, crispy flavor, and the slaw was the perfect fresh balance. I can’t wait for my next trip south just to stop by Smokee’s again!

Finding a fully vegan menu at a BBQ place in the Midwest is unhear of unless you go here! I was amazed to see this online, so I went in hopeful. Vegans have their own cashier, and all vegan items are cooked on separate grills and in separate fryers than the non-vegan items… so there’s no cross-contamination. (The fries on the non-vegan line are fried in the same grease they fry their bacon.)

I ordered the vegan ribz was pretty disappointed at the small portion. You get four “ribs”, but they’re very small and flat. The flavor and texture was decent but enhanced by adding the extra sauces they provide at the self-serve station near the register. I didn’t really feel I got my money’s worth, but at least it comes with two sides. The trick is knowing which sides to get (you get two with the ribz). The Spicy Sweet Corn is way too spicy and not very sweet. I’d rather just have regular corn. The cashew mac’n’cheese was pretty bland, so I wouldn’t recommend that, either. (My daughter was excited to order it as her main choice but was quickly disappointed. It was basically cold by the time we got it, too.) I ordered the Spinach Salad w/vegan bacon, mushrooms, and Basil Vinaigrette, and that was probably my favorite. You get a free piece of cheezy garlic bread with the ribz, but it was mostly crusty/crisp and the cheese wasn’t melty at all. So… if you get the ribz, get a side salad and an order of the vegan fries.

My son ordered the Notaburger w/vegan cheese and bacon and thought it was delicious! He could only eat half of it, so I got the rest of it for leftovers the next night. Wonderful! And our bacon wasn’t tough as another reviewer experienced. Again, he ordered the mac’n'(cashew)cheese as his side and was sadly disappointed. If you get the burger, order the fries!

* The cashier told me that they used to offer a vegan potato salad that was “reeeeally good”, so if that’s on the menu when you go, give it a shot.

Another sad point is that there were absolutely no vegan desserts to complete the meal. Desserts are what “seal the deal” on a good restaurant, and Smokee Mo’s is lacking there for the vegans. We like sweets, too!

Overall, I’d definitely recommend Smokee Mo’s to any vegan forced to eat BBQ with relatives or co-workers. It’s very hard to find any BBQ restaurant that offers more than just a salad or baked potato/fries for a vegan option.

Read about this from the Feast publication in Missouri as a place to try during Meatless March. As a lifelong vegetarian and someone who has always wanted to try BBQ, this had to be on my list while road-tripping. So so so good! The sauces and the sides are all amazing! We got the jackfruit sandwich and the BBQ tofu platter. We’re not vegans so we opted for the regular mac & cheese, garlic bread, and potatoes. Worth the drive if you’re anywhere near STL! The staff is super nice and this place has only been around since July 2019 so go support them. And they have all the meaty BBQ too; I just can’t review that!

We stumbled in while trying to find an Indian restaurant that was nearby. Plenty of seating available on a Sunday night.

I got the pork burnt ends on a side of garlic mashed potatoes with Mac and cheese. My wife got 4 baby back ribs and a cheesy potato side. They were really nice and gave her extra ribs for free because it was our first time.

My burnt ends tasted good but they were not what I was expecting. They didn’t have any char on them at all. I love charred burnt ends, so I’ll get something else next time.

My wife really liked the ribs. We live near Rib City and go there a lot but she liked these more.

Both the Mac and cheese and cheesy potato casserole were good.

They have several sauces available. The “smokee” is a good, standard BBQ sauce, but the habanero sauce was the standout. You might expect all heat and no flavor, but that wasn’t the case. The habanero had a delicious flavor that complemented the spice. Highly recommended.

Overall, with the neat interior, friendly staff, good meat, and tasty sauces, this is definitely a nice place to check out.
