Stopped by Smoke Shack on a day trip from Chicago. Really liked the aesthetic, small-to-medium sized BBQ spot with a cool, casual vibe. We came early, the place was empty, and food came out very quickly.
We ordered beers and a cider, but all drinks were flat, which was disappointing.
We ordered the Shack Sampler (½ slab ribs, ¼ lb beef brisket, pulled pork, smoked pulled chicken, burnt ends sausage) we chose sweet potato fries and cornbread, and added mac & cheese on the side.
The sides were the highlight. The mac & cheese was excellent , creamy, flavorful, and honestly one of the best I’ve had. The cornbread was also delicious. Sweet potato fries were soft inside, crispy outside, and perfectly seasoned.
The ribs and sausage were fantastic, tender, well-seasoned, and flavorful. Brisket was solid. Unfortunately, the pulled pork was dry and lacking flavor, and much of the food arrived lukewarm to cold, which was surprising given how quiet it was.
BBQ sauces were all good no complaints there.
Overall, a mixed experience. I’d come back for the ribs, sausage, and sides, but probably not for a full platter.

We ordered the burnt ends sausage sandwich with the tasty brussel sprouts and the beef brisket with the mac-n-cheese. The buns they came with were great quality. Desserts looked good, but we skipped it for walk to the Public Market to get dessert.
Our server, the young guy with blonde hair was engaging, attentive and we enjoyed talking with him.
Interior was dark, so would be fine on a cold winter’s night but glad we could spend our time outdoors on a warm fall evening.

We had a great experience at the Smoke Shack – our waitress Kaia was really attentive, brought everything quickly, checked up on us and even change the channel on the big screen TV so that we could watch the football game we wanted. Food was delicious:) make sure you try the Brussels sprouts! Serving size was fantastic and really good tasted like something we’ve had back in Texas. This place is easy to miss – feels like an authentic bbq joint nestled in between city buildings. Totally worth trying! Lots of indoor and outdoor seating.

My cousin and I have been coming here for years now. We live about 75 miles away and make the trip at least 2x a year because the food is absolutely worth it. Their sauces are great and even their desserts are worth noting. Definitely cant wait to come back again!

Some of the best BBQ I have had since moving from Tennessee! This is 100% the best restaurant bbq I have had here! The brisket, pulled pork, ribs, chicken, EVERYTHING was phenomenal! Our waitress, Makenna, was also exceptional and gave us her go to’s there since it was our first time. Fried green tomatoes, Brussel sprouts, corn bread, and Mac and cheese were all 10/10 as well! We will definitely be going back!!

Over all was not a bad experience. I got the brisket sandwich and it was overall pretty good. The two sides that I got were ok. Maybe would get the Mack cheese again but make sure it’s hot but the potato salad wasn’t that great.
Please would recommend that you all put brisket in your baked beans as an alternative and not pork please 🙂

First visit and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s a great choice if you’re craving BBQ. The cozy and rustic atmosphere gets you ready to dive right into to menu. Two of us shared the egg rolls appetizer and loved those. We also shared a two meat platter of brisket and burnt end sausage with potato salad and Brussels for our sides. Best restaurant Brussel sprouts we have ever had, loved the fall apart brisket, and I’m just a sucker for potato salad. You gotta give the burnt ends sausage a try but I’d definitely get something else the next time. They weren’t bad by any means, just personally not the best thing we tried at Smoke Shack, would’ve loved just some burnt ends. That’s totally a personal preference. It’s a unique concept and it was executed well. Loved the 5 bbq sauces, can’t wait to try the spicy one with smoked chicken. We went in the early afternoon on a weekday so ribs understandably were not available yet. Can’t wait to come back. Lucas was our server and was awesome, friendly, and attentive. Didn’t catch the name of the person who greeted us when we first walked in but they immediately set the tone with good vibes and amplified the already inviting atmosphere.

My husband and I came out for a date night here. The food was good, chicken is definitely a must try. But the brisket was dry unfortunately. The biggest downside was the service, we unfortunately got forgotten about. We were seated outside, spoke to the waitress but then no one came to check on us. It had been over 20 minutes and the restaurant was really slow so I was curious why we were waiting so long. I went inside to ask if we could order and our waitress realized she forgot about us and apologized. She was very kind, I was just taken back a little since there were only 3 parties dining at the time. Over all the food was pretty good.

I ordered the 2 meat combo plate with brisket and pork, the pork & brisket were both extremely dry with no dry rub taste from any seasoning, it taste like the meat had been sitting under heat lamps all day with no moisture to keep it moist. The brisket egg rolls I ordered were phenomenal. & the customer service was very good.

Food was pretty good, and the location is alright. The outdoor seating is a pulse.
To start off the do not get the sauce on the burnt ends. Only a couple of the meat pieces,I would consider real burnt ends. Chips that come with it are good.
The cornbread tasted like pound and it was good but not cornbread.
The wings needed so much more seasoning.
The ribs were tender but the sides were not good.
