We went to Smoke BBQ in Kennebunk and had an awesome experience. We ordered the “Smorgasbord,” and everything was soooo good. Great variety, tons of flavor, and more than enough food.
The service was excellent — we were well taken care of the entire time. The owner even stopped by our table and chatted with us for a bit, which was a really nice touch. He recommended a few other things to try next time, so we’ll definitely be back. I swore that I posted a review already.
10/10 — would absolutely go again!

Smoke BBQ in Kennebunk, Maine is absolutely worth the hype. You can smell the rich, mouthwatering smoke before you even step inside the building, and it only gets better from there. We dug into the brisket, burnt ends, and pulled pork, and every bite was packed with deep, smoky flavor and perfectly cooked. The brisket was tender and juicy, the burnt ends were decadent, and the pulled pork was spot on. The sides were just as impressive—cornbread that was moist and comforting, creamy potatoes au gratin, and crispy fries that rounded everything out perfectly.
It’s a bit spendy, but the quality, portions, and overall experience make it well worth it. We’ll definitely be back.
How could I forget the sauces? Six flavors sitting at the table including a mouthwatering description on the tray. We tried ALL and settled on two favorites … Green and Orange.

There is everything to love and nothing hate about Smoke! The food, the vibe, music! Jess, Will, Mark, Josh… they make you feel like a local even if you’re not! The “smoke machine” sits out back and you can smell the goodness as soon as you open your car door. Don’t be put off by “full time reviewers” who think because they rate gas stations and Taco Bell’s that they know BBQ! Come taste for yourself!!

Yum!!! And then the portion sizes and the sauces and the amazing waitstaff and the beans and the slaw! Just passing through on our way to Portland but we’ll be sure to stop again if we’re within 50 miles of this gem!

Great service from enthusiastic staff. However, the food was extremely disappointing! Brisket was dry, overcooked and no smoke ring whatsoever. Ribs were a little better but they were really greasy. Chicken was overcooked and dry. Pulled pork had a good taste and was tender but it was also greasy and too salty.
Impression: we were VERY DISAPPOINTED. Drive 90 miles just to eat there. Will not be a repeat customer and certainly will not recommend to others. If you fancy yourselves a BBQ restaurant, especially if your name is SMOKE we strongly encourage (1) learn how to smoke the meats. A good smoke ring is key to a good smoke flavor (2) your staff should know what wood is used to deliver the smoke flavor and (3) equally important for a great BBQ experience is the story behind the flavor. Teach your staff about the process and the passion behind the product.

The food was so good! We were only in town for a few days and I kept trying to go back, but couldn’t. I’m kicking myself for it too. The atmosphere was fun and relaxed, and the waitress was amazing!! She helped us with the menu and laughed with us throughout our visit! She even brought me a special treat for my birthday!

Literally the BEST Brisket Burnt Ends I’ve ever had – hands down! Not dried out and had a great sauce, were pretty lean. The Mac & Cheese – Wow! Very nice Stoli Blueberry Lemonade. If I had a freezer with me I’d take more meat back to South Carolina. Highly recommend!! ❤️. Staff was also great.

We had very memorable meal here. Love the pulled pork, bbq ribs, chilli bowl and potato gratin. Even the corn bread was delicious. Staffs are lovely. Total bill was $65+ for what we ordered in the photo.

Order food and drinks at the counter and they bring it to your table. Our food came quick. Unfortunately, the person who brought us water and I mentioned wanting to order a cocktail, didn’t tell me that I had to order it at the counter so hubby was in line to order our drinks when the food came. The two of us split a two meat, two sides combo and also got a side of cornbread. It was enough for the two of us. There are a variety of BBQ sauces to try with a description of each one. We had the brisket which was good. Sometimes brisket can be a bit dry but this was not. We also had the chicken, also not too dry. The coleslaw was ok. The scalloped potatoes were AWESOME. Maybe it’s because I haven’t had those in a long time but so GOOD! Cornbread was good, just sweet enough. Yes sugar belongs in cornbread! Lol
They also have a big beer/wine/cocktail menu and some outdoor seating.
