Eating at Smitty’s was a great experience! They didn’t have the best of everything, but overall it was one of my favorite BBQ joints. The pits are incredible, the whole place smells like burning wood, the building is historic and spacious. My wife and I shared sausage, brisket, pork chop, and pork ribs. The sausage is one of the best I have ever had! Great flavor, texture, at a good price. The pork ribs were fabulous! Again, one of the best I have ever had. I ordered my brisket moist, with and end. It tasted good but it was a bit tough, and not very moist. I have had better from Rudy’s. The pork chop was good, but not as smoky as the one I had at Kreuz’s. Good sides (slaw, beans, and Mac and cheese) but not outstanding. Good prices, great service, awesome environment. It’s true that you eat off butcher paper and there are no forks. Also, sodas come in cans or bottles (no refills). I will definitely return, but will double up on sausage and whether I skip the brisket will be a “game-time decision”.
