We were here from kentucky. We got the chicken and BBQ plate with beans, slaw and potato salad. It was all very delicious. The hushpuppies were amazing. Fast service and very friendly. Will probably be back before he head back home.

I went in there for chicken breasts and they did not have any. They were out and it was going to be an 18-minute wait ended up having chicken thighs and wings and they were way too breaded and they’d been sitting around for a while so I was not too impressed. The pulled pork was phenomenal. Now along with the hush puppies they were hot and fresh. I’ve been to many Smithfields and this is probably the worst one for the quality of food.

This place is totally overpriced! The chicken is small they must buy them half grown. You get 2 teaspoons of slaw and about 6 French fries on a plate. Way Way over priced for what it is and what you get. We were there at 12;30 prime lunch time and there were only 5 tables eating the entire time. And 2 drive thrus .what is going on with these restaurants?

It’s a restaurant that will surprise you. You order then seat down and they will bring you your food. The chicken tenders are super tender and the baked beans are amazing. I don’t even like baked beans. The sweet tea also a must get.
The service is amazing. Whenever we go, it is clean and the employees are friendly and helpful. You won’t be disappointed.

The best service I have ever had! When you walk in, they are Very welcoming and polite. They had a deep southern humble attitude and made us feel welcomed. They were very kind and were very friendly and warm! I never had seen this in places like these and we really enjoyed it. Food was terrific and hospitality was more than. Chicken was falling right off the bone and tea was astounding! All was just wonderful. Options are wide and unlimited sweet tea will be served at your table if it’s okay with you within extra charge. They Apologized for the dirty table and cleaned it in front of us, they were very busy and nice about it. Offered us To-go just in case. And they were considerate of everybody and their questions and needs. Tips are okay to give if you’d like. Food is served at tables. Drive thru comes in handy at times too!

Two Stars – Disappointing Visit to Smithfield’s Chicken in Rockingham
I went through the drive-thru, and the speaker system was clearly not working properly. The employee asked me to repeat my order, then told me to just drive around to the window because he still couldn’t hear me. That kind of defeats the purpose of a drive-thru.
I ordered the shrimp for $13.99, and let me tell you—it’s absolutely not worth that price. The portion was shockingly small, just a handful of tiny shrimp. Honestly, it felt more like a $5.99 item.
To make things worse, I had asked for tartar sauce and didn’t receive any in my bag. I had to drive back around, and the same issue happened again repeating myself at the speaker before being told to come to the window just to ask for tartar sauce.
The staff was friendly though.
The food was underwhelming, and the whole experience was frustrating. Definitely not what I expected for the price.

Great staff, always clean, very consistent food. And by consistent, I mean excellent. Their fried chicken and tenders are second to none, and the barbecue is great as well.
The only thing I have a problem with is the banana pudding. As far as banana pudding goes, it’s horrible, they need to make it fresh with bananas instead of just pudding with vanilla wafers on top. That’s just gross.
