For starters the cashier was incredibly rude, she was visibly upset I was looking over the menu (there was no line so I wasn’t holding anyone up). I said it was my first time here so I need just a minute to which she rolled her eyes. I asked what was on the BBQ plate since the menu didn’t show what kind of meat it was. She just pointed to the board and didn’t actually say anything. I ordered a meal for myself, my wife and my son, not realizing none of the meals came with drinks and still our bill was $40. The cashier did bring the food around the counter and shoved it at me and rudely snapped have a nice day and walked away.
I took the food to go and thought dealing with the rude cashier was going to be the worst part about the lunch, but once again I was wrong. The “BBQ” plate was dried out pulled pork with no flavor to it. The chicken tenders were okay, heavily breaded and dry. And the shrimp was decent, and that was the best of the protein we had. I’ve never been to a BBQ place that doesn’t have sauce for the meats. Luckily I took the food home to eat so we had some BBQ sauce we used to make the food edible.
Normally I give a place 3 bad trips before I don’t go back but between the terrible service, overpriced meals and no sauce or flavor for the food we will not return here again.
Nickel-and-diming customers over sauce packets is a great way to lose business—especially after a $20+ purchase. I asked for her name but I’m sure gave me a false name. Do better next time Smithfield. This experience left a bad impression, and I won’t be returning.
What I received was anything but that. I’ll focus on the shrimp portion as it was the lest desirable of the entire order. The shrimp was barely half the area for it and the breading was hardly even covering the shrimp and had more grease soaked in that your favorite tune station oil change stall. Part of eating out is out of convenience but there’s an expectation of quality and it was not meet this time.
06/2024 Update: what a wonderful father’s day treat my wife brought home knowing I love bbq in actuality this was far from a wonderful meal. 3ozs of pulled pork!! For 15 dollars a shrimp and bbq plate should have far more than that. Pork shoulder is .99lb at most places and it’s nice to not wait all day to smoke some when you get a craving but this is ridiculous! Not acceptable and at this point completely dissatisfied with this restaurant!
