I’m not exactly easily impressed, but I’ve come here a few times, and everyone has always been so pleasant and helpful. Today, I got to watch their DM work, and he did a great job! Leading by example goes a long way with me. Speaking on leadership, almost every time I come in, I see some elder veterans, and the staff are always so good to them. Really makes me proud and happy to visit. Thank you to all the staff for all your hard work!

The staff was GREAT. First time here, and the staff walked us through all the items/options. Took a little bit for the food to come out to the table, but the wait was worth it. Chicken tenders, bbq, and all the sides were great.

The first time I ate from here was about 6 months and it was great. BUT my last 2 visits it has been awful! Slaw was dry and tasteless! Chopped BBQ was dry and for some reason every time I ordered vinegar sauce, and pay for extra vinegar sauce they forget to put it in my order. Fries are soggy! Hushpuppies tasted like they had been reheated too many times! I will not be spending my money there ever again!

Went to drive thru tonight and got a combo with dark meat and a combo with shrimp both with potato salad and stew and a gallon of tea. Worst potato salad and shrimp I ever got. Shrimp had more tiny dough balls than shrimp and the shrimp that was in there was less than a dime in size and didnt taste right the potato salad didnt taste good either. Stew barbecue and chicken was cold. It was horrible and I felt sick after I ate some of it. Worst 35.oo I ever spent!

Ordered ahead for pick up. Ordered a tailgate special. Got the text that our food was ready at 6:36 and it updated on the tracking that the food was ready as well. We got there probably 5 minutes after that. My husband goes in expecting to just grab the food and go as we had toddlers in the car ready to get home (reasons why we PREORDERED) he tells the First Lady he’s picking up and she looks at some receipts and walks away.. never comes back! Next guy taking orders sees my husband still standing there and asks if he needs help.. he tells him yes, we’re trying to pick up our food. The guy asks for the name and says the text and tracking isn’t accurate and it’ll be ready in 5-10 minutes. Well another 20 goes by and still no food, while watching the drive thru clear out and every family that’s come in to order after get their food. We’re still waiting. Finally after 35 minutes of waiting, talk to a manager who had to go dig to find our order receipt and then, ONLY THEN went to go and finally make our food. Not a single bit of care that we ordered ahead and had every confirmation that our food was ready and it was not then and was never being worked on either as my husband stood inside and waited for over 30 minutes.

Solid predictably good food. Nothing fancy but clean. Glad they still offer tea refills at your table. When my wife and I cannot make a decision about where to eat — our automatic go-to restaurant is here. And we come away pleased every time. Recommended eatery.
An update: On 8-28-25 I encountered a Smithfield BBQ delivery van illegally parked in Handicap ♿️ space. I informed management but they refused to move it for 10 minutes. I explained I had an elderly person legally blind with me. No other Handicap spaces were available. ♿️ I explained twice that their vehicle was illegally parked but the guy seemed unconcerned. So legally blind Handicap person with me had to walk across parking lot. Inexcusable behavior!

Whenever we come to Wake Forest my husband always wants to come here for the chicken and the New Brunswick stew. Today we were helping my parents move some stuff around for a remodel and my mom went out to get our regular order and they gave us 8 pieces of chicken instead of 12. No big deal, we all make mistakes. However, my Dad went to collect the extra chicken (we had some tired, hungry kids) and the manager offered to deliver it himself!! He came over with a BRAND NEW order of 12 pieces and some extra hush puppies. Amazing food and incredible customer service. Smithfield’s you have some happy, full customers today!! Thank you so much!

Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q is a total letdown. The food is consistently greasy, leaving a heavy, oily aftertaste. Quality has plummeted; the BBQ feels mass-produced and bland, while the chicken lacks fresh flavor. Definitely not worth the stop.

Used to be one of my favorites. It’s getting terrible. Wait times are insane, inside and drive thru. If I order drive thru, my food is always wrong. If I go inside, the wait is insane, can’t win for losing. If I ask for my food to be double checked in the drive thru, either they don’t do it or get attitude. Just say in the drive thru 15 mins. Last time giving them chances.

Smithfield’s Bar-B-Q sometimes gets passed over because it’s a chain of restaurants. I stopped by the Wake Forest location and ordered my go to Bar-B-Q sandwich, fries and a sweet tea. All of which were delicious. The Bar-B-Q was tender, the fries were hot and the tea was a southern delight. When you stop by be sure to speak with Ruth as she typically gets all customers at the door. Makes you feel right at home!
