Picture this: I stroll in hungry enough to eat the vinyl off the seats. One whiff of that smoky, slow-cooked pork practically had me signing adoption papers to legally become part of the Smithfield’s family. The chicken? Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and apparently blessed by angels wearing BBQ aprons.
Let’s talk hush puppies. Those golden little flavor bombs should come with a warning label: “May cause spontaneous dance moves and unsolicited marriage proposals.” And don’t get me started on the sweet tea — so dangerously good it makes me want to start a support group.
Meanwhile, we often pops by Smithfield’s when we’re out zipping around Eastern North Carolina, saving homes from unwanted creepy-crawly invasions. It’s like a pit stop for the soul (and stomach). Nothing like conquering termites all morning and then rewarding yourself with a feast fit for a Carolina king.
Honestly, every visit is like attending a family reunion, minus the awkward political debates and plus an extra ladle of barbecue sauce. The staff always serves up big smiles, warm hospitality, and plates piled so high they practically need scaffolding.

I frequent this location when I’m in Goldsboro working. I went here 8/22/24 around 1:30. Service was good. I ordered the dark meat chicken meal. The chicken was old. It was room temp, the crust and meat was rubbery. It had been cooked a long time. Maybe leftover from early lunch. The hushpuppies were as bad. The other real issue was, the window cleaner cleaning windows right over my table as you cab see in the photo. I asked him if I needed to leave because he was dripping water/liquid on My table. He just said non shalontly, “no youre fine” like I was in his way. Seems Smithfields would have this done before/after hours NOT while customers are eating and especially inconsiderate enough to do it right over their head. Not a good experience for sure. Smithfields please stop serving old rubbery chicken. This location use to be top notch. Hot fresh tasting food, but here lately they’ve gone downhill. I likely will rethink going back here ever.

Ordered 4 meals and forgot to give us the chicken and a drink. Had to go all the way back Then they wanted me to pay for the tea I didn’t get Their chicken isn’t acceptable. The size of the pieces looks like a baby chick…plus it was cold like it had been in fridge . So dissatisfied! I say this every time but I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. 46.00$

You have always been our go to for fried chicken. All birthdays and other occasions. Since you changed the crust recipe it’s just like any other place. We love the crunch and crisp of it. we’ve been several times since the change hoping it would get better. The girl said corporate changed the batter recipe. Please get the old batter back. Guess we’ll try McCalls or Wilbur’s.
