Food is ok for average run of the mill frozen bar food, but the wings were overcooked in dirty oil, and the one that served us was more interested in the TV and talking to the 3 guys at the bar. Finally, I had to walk up to the bar to ask for refills and then even the check, where I was given an attitude for simply expecting service.
I don’t understand the hype at all, and there’s a lot better food and TONS better atmosphere elsewhere.
We ordered our drinks (sodas) and when he brought them, we ordered an app and our meals. The wait wasn’t too crazy but my bf had already finished his drink by the time the app and food came out (all at the same time).. so after looking around and waiting a bit, he finally walked to the bar for a refill. Now I’m finished with my meal and kind of picking at my daughter’s friend, hoping for a refill but this guy NEVER comes back to check on us. A family of 3 came in and sat down. They had a loud little girl (she was a cutie but there’s NO way he didn’t see/hear them.) after 10 or 15 minutes, the mom goes up and tries to get menus. The guy waves her off and says someone will come to the table. It’s just them, us, and 4 older fellas drinking at the bar that look like regulars. This waiter goes between the register, the fridge, around the corner (presumably to the other dining room where they just sat a party of about 10), back to the register, picks up a basket of stuff, carries it off, comes back and trades out the basket for a different one (note- this isn’t food or anything, I assume it’s the catch-all baskets with pens and stuff, had a light clipped on)… He’s just carrying these things back and forth like he’s lost. An older lady comes in and goes behind the bar… Cool, maybe I can get a refill now that he’s got some help. She is never seen again. A young girl comes in to help. She seems super sweet and says hello to the regulars. My bf goes to the bar to ask for my refill, the check, and a to-go box…. We wait another 10 min, nothing. The younger waitress comes to the other table and apologizes and takes their order… Our guy is still lost. Bf goes to the bar, yet again! We spent more time waiting on the check than we did eating.
That all being said, the food was pretty great! Buffalo Chicken logs were really good, my Italian sausage sandwich was pretty good but I was surprised that it wasn’t hot or mild even, but sweet. Daughter got the wings and they were EXCELLENT! BFs burger was big but he said it was flavorless. Actually, he said “how can you have this much meat and no flavor?!” The hand cut fries were awesome, perfectly cut, and perfectly cooked!
The food was delicious, for the most part. I don’t know, maybe the server was new, I’ve been there and I’m pretty understanding, but you can’t put your new guy (if he was) alone on a mid afternoon shift that he can’t handle. 4 guys drinking beers and one table and he was doing AWFUL. Thankfully they called in backup for him.
I’d try it again, probably, just for the wings!
Oh and a toddler threw up all over the floor while the Dad was waiting for his to-go order. Dad cleaned it up the best he could but it was never addressed by the staff (any of the 3) and that’s pretty gross.
Definitely recommend the steak and cheese end fresh cut fries
Neither I or any member of my family will ever eat there again!!!! I come home from Baltimore once a month and my family and I always go to Smileys for wings. My check alone with tip every single time is about $100. Anyone that ever knew me or my family being we have all worked in restaurants and owned a restaurant we are always very polite and tip well.
Tonight 4 of us went for wings and drinks. We ordered the Buffalo log appetizer which we have had before and it’s always been good. Tonight they were so over cooked you couldn’t eat them. The chicken inside was dry. No sauce. Not edible. The 4 of us each tried the same log and all agreed horrible. We left the other 4 logs on the plate. I told the waitress the issue and she said ok.
At the end of the dinner we asked for our checks. When she brought mine it still had the logs on for $8. I asked her to please remove them from the check. The manager came out and asked what was wrong and we told her and she was being very nice.
As she went to turn around the owner followed her out behind her and very loudly started yelling with are these the people that complain all the time and constantly have something wrong!?!? (To be clear for years we have never sent anything back here nor asked to have anything removed from a check). The manager was trying to tell him no, but he came around her and in the middle of the dining room started screaming and yelling at us telling us that we are a problem and there is always a problem with us. And he’s telling us we need to find a new place to eat we are no longer welcome in his bar. So we began yelling back that that’s fine don’t worry we won’t be back. And he kept yelling at us in the middle of the dining room yelling for us to keep it up cause he knows people and he will have us thrown out pointing at the table behind us. At this point I was irritated and firing back at him until he finally left.
Then his son comes out and tells us the problem is we ordered the food and whether it’s good or bad or we ate it or not we needed to pay for it. I said really that’s some great customer service. He said it is that’s why we are so busy and we don’t need you here.
So then I explained to him several times I’ve brought groups of my family here and we’re always told we can’t put tables together yet friends of his behind us have a table of 15 put together. And again the kid says yep that’s the rules and those are friends of ours. We needed to pay the check and leave.
So I can 100% say not one of us will ever buy another thing from that place and I will gladly tell anyone about this experience.
