Sooooo I want to see this restaurant win! It’s a tough business and it’s hard to get everything right but it’s necessary to keep the doors open in this competitive East Bay restaurant market. That said, I will admit I have rated Smelly’s more generously than I do normally. Considering the exceptional deal we received for Oakland’s Restaurant week, the food was great for the price. Who gets a whole crab, blackened shrimp and garlic noodles for $60! That’s totally unheard of! I also ordered a side wings that were absolutely delicious! I had to toss my napkin to the side and lick my fingers to make sure I didn’t miss any of that phenomenal flavor! While the crab was covered in garlic and butter the flavor was just OK but the garlic noodles were a great consistency and had a good amount of garlic and some other ingredients that made me turn into a magician who made them disappear! The blackened shrimp was so yummy!

Don’t believe the hype, IG had me fooled I drove an hour to sit outside beside a trash can with bug flying around my food. Oh did I mention the make shift patio is on the outside . Terrible idea. The chicken was good . The macaroni was ok just a different taste then what I’m use too. I wouldn’t visit again. I’m very disappointed. Corey was amazing great customer service. The garlic bread was delicious. Parking didn’t see any, yes it’s kid friendly. I’m sure you can push a wheelchair outside on the sidewalk.

I heard about this place years and years ago prior to relocating from California and this was my first time in. Very hospitable and welcoming! We to wait a little bit for a table (less than an hour), and the hostess allowed two women that arrived after us to be seated right away but this was rectified rather quickly in spite of the given constraints. The staff truly does care about your experience. Food is definitely on the pricier side but the portions are generous. I had the lobster tail and prawns over garlic noodles and had enough to take home for later. If you want a drink, the bar does operate separately so as to expect two separate checks, but the bartender was very attentive and friendly and does what needs to be done, respectfully. If you’re visiting the Bay Area, do yourself a favor and visit this spot!

I was in Oakland this weekend and a friend of mine took me here for lunch! I’m not one for any type of shellfish but this was delicious! I’m glad I got out of my comfort zone. Service was great as our server kept checking to see if we needed anything! The DJ was playing my kind of music! West coast baby! If your ever in Oakland give this establishment a visit. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed. I was so full I didn’t have to ear until the next morning!

I would just like to start out by saying the customer service was OUTSTANDING! And once I received my food the food was so so delicious, I mean everything from the crab to the garlic noodles. Usually I don’t care for thick noodles but theses were amazing! The shrimp was great and everything was delicious, I definitely recommend this restaurant from my house to the White House! I’m so sorry I don’t have pictures, I was so excited and hungry when the food arrived, and I dove right in. Everything was delicious. I had grilled oysters and the fried seafood combo with the shrimp, oysters, snapper, crack and cheese, and green beans. All was seasoned to perfection, and you can tell the grease was fresh.

Definitely a go to spot when I’m in the area. The aroma when you walk through the door is amazing, haven’t eaten a thing yet after several visits that I don’t like, and it’s a nice touch that Chef Smelly comes out to greet folks once the kitchen is closed, and Tiffany is a great asset to help with anything & everything needed….our group was big & she was attentive. I’m craving the food just thinking about it!

What a phenomenal restaurant experience! Food and service! Chef came by to say hello. Everything was delicious but the chargrilled oysters, shrimp, garlic bread and garlic noodles were our favorites. Mac and cheese had a little kick (I’m a spice baby). The garlic green beans were cooked perfectly. The Catfish was the freshest I’ve ever had. Salad was more than enough for two. Even better was sharing it with my foodie baby girl Lynz. I’m saying baby girl until her wedding day. Happy #nationaldaughterday (didn’t know it was today until tonight) Nice to spend it with my east coaster

This place was amazing! First time there. The greeter at the door was soooo welcoming. Our waitress was amazing, she got my order wrong, she apologized with no attitude, corrected my order and didn’t miss a beat. I even got a picture with the chef. I really enjoyed our dinner it was definitely full filling and delicious!
