A little paradise inside a covered and heated outdoor patio. Good taps and fun drinks with delicious variations of burritos. The nice cashier offered to make me a bowl out of the peak forest burrito. Very nice gentleman! Best mushrooms I’ve had in a long time! 10/10 customer service. 10/10 hot sauce.

I have not had every burrito in Portland, but from the ones I’ve had, Smart Donkey has my favorite so far. It was very tasty, a lot of food, and great service. We brought a big group and it was so easy to find space to sit and hang out. A lot of it is outdoors but they have a large enough indoor space too. We really enjoyed eating there and I want to try their other burritos!

Quick, friendly service, yummy food/house margarita, and a pretty killer happy hour. For $14 bucks I got a massive burrito and a great margarita that paired beautifully together. The cute vibe/ ambiance makes it a great spot to get together with friends, too. Highly recommend this place !

I really wanted to be impressed or blown away but it was good. Nothing special that makes me want to go back. Food was good. There is a little bit of covered (indoor) seating and the rest is outside. Nice size space for groups.

I can’t express enough how amazing and flavorful this burrito was!! ( I had the El Gordo burrito ) What a dream come true. Super friendly staff and their happy hour is off the hook!! (House marg and a burrito cost me $14 in all!!) Will be coming back to try the rest of the menu very soon. SE Portland gem right here.

I am so happy I found this place! I moved here from Texas by way of Arizona. This is the best burrito I have found in the PNW! Been here several times now and they never disappoint!

Got the cherry Paloma and the el basico burrito and both were fantastic! Probably one of the best burritos I’ve had in a while. The flavor was on point. It was wrapped tight and perfect and not greasy at all and didn’t fall apart while I was eating it. Definitely will return.

EDIT: They have since fixed this issue. I decided to try another burrito from here and it wasn’t greasy! I don’t know if this is due to responsiveness to reviews or more meticulous standards but it reflects well nonetheless.

Food is reasonably priced and flavorful, but every time I have gone there my burrito has been greasier and greasier. Most recently, it exploded grease all over my lap, hands, and face just from me biting into it.
Update: The grease ruined my favorite pants, even after treating and washing them. Very disappointed since the burritos are otherwise good but I just can’t afford to replace my clothes every time I eat here.

Smart Donkey does amazing things with the burrito. The menu offers burritos, beverages, and nothing else- but they really do their burritos right.

I have ordered a different burrito each of the four times I’ve been by, and I couldn’t pick a favorite. The ingredients are good quality, and the meats are seasoned well.

They also offer a variety of microbrews and pretty good margaritas.

I absolutely recommend!

It’s been a while since I’ve had a burrito, but Smart Donkey may well shorten the time before I have another. Burritos and drinks are pretty much the only things on the menu, but when you do something well, there’s no need to try anything different.
At the time of my visit, there were 11 different burritos on the menu. My wife had the Uruapan (Michoacán style carnitas) and I went with El Basico (carne asada). Both were terrific. They seemed a bit on the expensive side, but a single burrito provided two very satisfying lunches. The leftovers reheated quite well.
The location is a one-truck cart pod. There are a couple of picnic tables and seating at the bar inside the covered space. The bartenders take food orders and pass them along to the truck itself, that forms the back bar. Outside, there are two large high top covered tables where you can eat standing up. For those familiar with the neighborhood, the truck is in the former DIY car wash location just north of Powell.
