Five stars for this new addition to the Berkley community My wife and I have been eager to visit since they announced that they were coming to town. Since they don’t take reservations, I called for a tip on timing. Matt was incredibly helpful and helped us avoid a long wait.

The interior remodel is solid, creating a great feel for a night out. Our waitress, Ariel, was extremely knowledgeable and insightful. Food-wise, the pulled pork was not bad, but the sides really stole the show and tied the whole meal together. I’m a big fan of the slaw. A small menu usually means high quality, it delivered overall.

The drink selection is okay. As someone who doesn’t drink anymore, the only had one NA beer on the menu. It was my first time having it, and it wasn’t too bad.

Highly recommend for anyone looking for some local BBQ.

Great spot!!! Good vibes. BBQ, was amazing!! My first visit I gave in and had their award winning Yardbird sandwich. It was award worthy! Delicious, rich, fork and knife second half kinda deal!! Sooooo good! Sides very solid and waffle fries stood out. Tonight I had a 1/2 rack of their ribs. Again, GREAT! Loved trying all the sauces at the table! Came with 2 sides, Mac and cheese was killer and corn bread! I was full and still managed to take home a few ribs! Can’t wait to go back!

Tell you what, this is good bbq. I would go back here again. They were crazy busy Saturday night at 6pm and still cranking through tables. I recommend and hope they stay in Berkley for a bit. This was the platter, I’d recommend for a party of 2-3 hungry people. Very good, will be going back.

If you have to pick, get the RIBS!!

Slow’s BBQ in Berkley absolutely lived up to the hype. I used to go to Slow’s in Detroit all the time before the pandemic, so when I heard they were opening a location here, I was genuinely excited—especially since it’s literally on my way home from work.
The vibe inside is really cool and laid‑back, making it a perfect spot to meet up with friends. We came in on a Tuesday and decided to mix things up from Taco Tuesday with some serious BBQ. I ordered the Big Three with baked beans and sweet potato mashed potatoes, and everything was outstanding. The brisket was tender and packed with flavor, the pulled pork was just as delicious, and the sides were spot on.
Honestly, everything about the meal was great. I even had leftovers—which never happens—and that midnight snack later on sealed the deal. If the food is still amazing hours later, you know it’s legit.
I can already tell this place is going to be a regular stop for me. Welcome to the neighborhood, Slow’s—Berkley is lucky to have you.

Started with an appetizer of wings, enjoyable Smokey flavor and good seasoning. Main entree was the big three platter with coleslaw and sweet potato sides (and corn bread). Platter and sides were OK. Great service, drink was never empty and waitress was attentive.

Food was mediocre at best. Ordered the trio. They didn’t bring the entire entree. Had to ask the server where’s the rest of my meal?Food was cold, portions small. My order had bbq chicken on it. They served me boneless dark meat with jerk on it. They switched it out without saying anything. Pulled pork had no sauce and was cold as was the brisket which was dry. Food in Corktown is better and prepared differently. Beans were overly sweet. Don’t remember them being sweet in Corktown. No Smokey flavor. Just sugar flavor. Didn’t care for any of this. Won’t go back

Slows is a great local place to have excellent BBQ. The same great BBQ from downtown Detroit in a comfortable cozy location in downtown Berkley.

Never been to a slows bbq before, but I’ve heard about them for years and finally gave it a try since they opened this new location right by my house. I called ahead and put my name on the waitlist per my fiancé’s request (shoutout to Dreya for helping me out with that) and me and my fiance LOVED EVERYTHING! The building seemed clean to us, food was great, and our server, Dane, was great. If u got a fix for some good bbq, I’d 100% recommend this place. A smidge pricey but worth it.
