Slowboat offers excellent value for money and very friendly and efficient service from both the management and staff. The restaurant is conveniently located in the centre of Chester close to the bus station, train station and shops. We visited without a reservation but that wasn’t a problem as it is a spacious restaurant. The interior is tastefully decorated with comfortable seating. Food service is fast and the quality is very good. It was raining and freezing cold temperatures outside when we visited so the soup, which was included in the menu, was particularly welcome. Additionally, the main course dishes were served on chafing racks which is an excellent idea to keep the food hot. There were a couple of large groups (one celebrating a birthday and the other a family) and several couples dining at the same time; everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves and their meals, so it is clearly a good restaurant for any occasion. We are happy to recommend Slowboat and we look forward to returning someday.

£50+ to feel nauseous. Freezing cold when delivered. Dry meat (duck is pictured below, our 1/4 duck made 3 pancakes and we couldn’t physically shred the rest), watery tasteless sauces. Fried rice is plain boiled rice with about 2 pieces of egg in. Didn’t even try to eat the satay skewers after my first attempt at biting it and i couldn’t bite through it.
We only ordered because of the other reviews, we’ll just stick to our usual from now on.

Good was good but the delivery was 40mins after stated so 1hr 20mins in total. I called after 1hr they’d spoken with the driver but weren’t apologetic in anyway and quick to hang up. The driver apologised but again no reason. Obviously needed to heat the food up which doesn’t give the same ‘freshly cooked’ enjoyment.

Went for the £20 All You Can Eat.
And we did, which was Prawn Toast, Salt n Pepper ribs, OK sauce ribs, hot n sour soup x 2, chicken n sweetcorn soup, half a crispy duck, spring rolls, chicken in black bean sauce, chicken n mushroom in black bean sauce, chicken teriyaki and to finish off, 2 banans fritters and an ice cream!
There was 4 of us, all washed down with wine and beer!

The food was excellent and the service great until I asked for the bill. If I had not checked it I would not have found the £60 the waiter had added. All apologies but I have seen this kind of scam before, shocking, will not be returning.

We ordered a 4 person meal deal, for collection. It was ready at the correct time. The choice was great and we had enough food for five adults and two children. The starters and meals were all delicious and we enjoyed it very much. A real treat.

We ordered the takeaway for four delivered yesterday which included eight starters, six mains, and 4 sides. There were five of us and I think we could easily have fed a sixth. The food was fantastic! Would like to see a prawn main dish on the menu!

Takeaway buffet for 2 ordered. Great delivery service, arrived earlier than estimated. All the starters were hot and delicious, 2 main dishes (sweet and sour chicken & honey chilli) were delicious, sadly the 3rd main (kimdo chicken) was inedible, it tasted very sour. We definitely recommend the restaurant.
