Stopped in here for a quick bite and a cold beer. Service was friendly and quick. The peel & eat shrimp were so good. The beer was just the cold I wanted. There was a guy playing guitar. Totally a laid back friendly place. Would stop in again.

So I think when people go to this place its for the environment and the atmosphere and too say that you’ve been somewhere that Hemmingway and other famous people have been it is very loud but still enjoyable I mean exactly what you would expect it to be but I say it is a staple and it is a must stop and eat there. The customer service is great. The people working were attentive and we did not need anything ever. They stopped by all the time asking if we needed stuff so overall, I would say it is a good place to eat good place to listen to a live music and just in general good atmosphere.

Unfortunately, my experience here was very disappointing.
In the video I attached, you can clearly see the real condition of this place.

The fans are covered in dust and clearly haven’t been cleaned in a long time. There are tangled wires hanging from the ceiling, cracked and peeling paint on the walls, and dirty tables. All of this creates a feeling of neglect and poor hygiene. It is simply uncomfortable to stay inside, and it definitely does not make you want to order anything or spend time there.

For a tourist spot in Key West, where you expect at least basic cleanliness and comfort, this was especially disappointing. It feels like the space has not been properly maintained for a long time.

I really hope the owners take this feedback seriously and improve the cleanliness and condition of the place. At this moment, I cannot recommend it.

We absolutely loved this place. This was the highlight of the day. The beer was cold and the food was delicious. I ordered a Famous Sloppy Joe sandwich along with a Sloppy Rita. There was live music and a huge crowd of people enjoying themselves.

I have been here previously, but my husband has not. By far the best sloppy Joe’s you will ever have hands down. My husband is a vegetarian and was very impressed with his meal. We had unplanned live music playing, and he was phenomenal. Our waitress was very fast and the service was some of the best we have had.

I had a beer and my husband had a A specialty drink. The drink was just average, but the atmosphere and food fire made up for this.

You come here for the atmosphere. This is a great place with lots of interesting flags.

Just like every place we have gone into it running on key West time.

We enjoyed the music.

There were seven of us here. If you need a big table go early. There were always spots at the bar on a Monday night as far as we could tell.

Two of us spent time watching the car to see if it’s alive.

The staff had a refreshingly friendly cheerfulness to them that was most welcoming. My wife and I had their signature famous Sloppy Joe’s. The food was good, but I was more impressed with the bustling atmosphere and their live music.

“The” place to stop in Key West … you cannot pass this place up! Yep, it’s a dive, but still a special, iconic place. We stopped after a meal close-by, even mid-afternoon packed with folks from all over. History here too… “Hemingway’s Bar” that helped him forget several wives over the years! LOL Extensive drink and food menu. Service is great, the beer is cold!

I was looking for some comfort food and not the touristy Frufru stuff, so I tried the bbq chicken pizza. It was as good as any I’ve had and very filling as it was loaded with chicken. Although only 10”, it’s enough for 2. Wife thought the sloppy joe sandwich was just okay but I tasted it and it wasn’t to my liking if you like the
traditional can version.
