I have been here before and the food was good, the staff were great, and the atmosphere is nice, so I decided to take my family there on our way home from Hot Springs for our anniversary. It ended up being a pretty big let down though. While the waitress was very sweet, it was apparent that she is young and hasn’t had many years in the service industry. This is to be expected in a college town, so we weren’t really stressing it. For example, when we asked for extra napkins for the five of us (With three kids) she only gave us three. Normally when you ask for a drink to go, you usually get a new a straw with the drink, but not in this case. Waiters/waitresses should also be able to gauge the food before serving it to guests, but in this visit that didn’t happen. I will say the catfish was really good, and they should continuing serving it. The hush puppies however were so burnt we couldn’t even eat them. The grilled chicken sandwich looked really good, but it tasted like it was cooked on a burnt surface or in a burnt griddle. Before we left we ordered boneless chicken wings that cost $10. As you can see, what we ended up with was a very tiny portion of bite size chicken pieces. I try not to bash local businesses, but I also don’t like asking restaurants to correct food issues because you never know what may happen in a kitchen if you complain. If a chef is already having a bad day, it could just make it worse. I hope this business returns to what they were the previous time I visited, but it may be a while before we can go back again.

Pork chop was seasoned well but overcooked, dry and tough. Garlic mashed potatoes didn’t taste of garlic and I suspect they were instant potatoes. Place was semi deserted on a Saturday night.

Was in town visiting my pregnant daughter. She recommended this place. Was our 1st time. The food was decent. We got our Appetizers, Salads and Food, all at the same time. The Fried Green Tomatoes were tiny. About as big a round as a Roma Tomato. The Fried Pickles were good. Salads were good. Hamburger Steak was good. Wraps were good. The Chicken Fried Steak was apparently deep fried and grease logged. Sooo much grease draining out of it when cut. Got a condiment cup of gravy for it. Not enough gravy for the size steak. Drinks were good. Server was very nice

Fish is good. Fried pickles are good. Key lime cheesecake isn’t bad. Service was very good. I’d totally go back.
Parking lot isn’t very big so you may have to park on the street somewhere. Decent sized patio if the weather permits. Quite a few other tasty things on the menu.

This place had a nice atmosphere and the staff was really nice, professional and very helpful. The pickled chips were good for starters. The steak was good and the grilled vegetables were nice and hot. I just had to throw a little salt and pepper on the steak and vegetables and they were good. Their garlic mashed potatoes were really good and they have unlimited refills on their sodas. Definitely will be back.

Decent food for a good price. We were in town for OBU Volleyball Reunion and had lunch at Slim and Shorty’s. Nice to see a couple places to eat in downtown Arkadelphia and with alcohol options. We didn’t have that back in the days. Buffalo Sandwich was good, i would stay away from the mach potato.

The food was amazing! We had scallops, friend shrimp, burgers and drinks & more. Everything was flavored perfectly. The atmosphere was great as well- Good music, friendly people, unique design inside, and just overall a great experience. Highly recommend and we will be back!

Two of my grands and I went to Slim and Shorty’s last night after the Christmas parade in town. Even though they had a private party happening in the Board Room (excellent for large groups) Allie was right there to greet us with our favorite drinks in hand.
This is a family owned restaurant and you can tell the Harris family and their employees take pride in seeing that they serve great food. What I really like about Slim’s is the fact that they have a good variety of foods to choose from. You can get burgers, seafood, chicken, pork chops, or wings and that’s just to name a few items.
We have held a lot of family celebrations in their Board Room and we always enjoy these gatherings. Slim and Shorty’s ensures every detail is taken care of. They will cater your event with delicious foods or you and your guests can order off the menu. Either way, you can’t go wrong. The photo I posted was from my husband’s 70th bday which was in the Board Room. It was catered and so many of our guests commented on how good their food and service was.
The Harris family has been serving delicious food and fun (every other Thursday night is Trivia) to our community for well over a decade and we’re so glad they’re here!
