The Slaton Bakery was established in 1923 and is located in downtown Slaton on the west side of the square, overlooking the beautiful new court house. We serve cakes, cookies, thumbprints, flour tortillas, donuts, fried pies, white and wheat bread. We also have cupcakes, cheeserolls, pies, and banana pudding.

Got here later in the day and there was still a wide selection. When you get here, walk to the restaurant in the left side and walk back to the rooms to see part of the history of the bakery. It’s a neat little place to visit. They do sell their products at HEB and other places.

Wonderful little small town bakery widely known in Texas. Great made-to-order sandwiches and freshly baked pastries and cookies, and donuts. Known for their delicious cakes.

I love the history of this business. It is intriguing that it’s over 100 years old. I believe it is the same building since the beginning. There on the corner of the square, tempting people as they pass. The staff is friendly and helpful. The prices are a little too high for us, but we did get a cookie and a couple of tiny pies. They were yummy. It was worth stopping by, but since we live so far away, we will keep the memory close.

What a gem, great service, great food and a terrifically decorated store. Definitely enjoyed stopping in here for lunch. My sandwich was freshly made to order and tasted great. Staff were considerate and helpful. Such a shame this place is so far from home, I’d love to have something like this nearby.

Found in an order early in the morning and went and picked it up 2 hours later it was a birthday cake and they already had a cake made and so all they had to do was decorate. I also picked up a few other items. They have a great selection

Ordered a cake for a dear friends graduation for her Nurse Practitioner. Provided a picture and sat down and explained in detail what I wanted. Heart Shaped double layer with the design exactly like the photo I gave them. The cake I received was round not heart shaped, the decor on the sides was not added as requested. When I pointed out the discrepancy when I picked up the cake from the young lady who took my order was, “I don’t know what they did”. Throwing people under the bus when she did not write down everything I asked for. The reason I drive to Slaton from Lubbock is the quality of their product. I was very disappointed. Photo in the box is what I got after I added my own bows and the other is the picture I provided.

I’m thoroughly disappointed and disgusted by the smaller repackaging of the vanilla wafers as well as the ginger snap cookies. I used to pay $4.98 for 16 ounces which I thought was a little high priced but my family loved them. I also wanted to support local businesses.
But yesterday I bought some in a tiny package of only 11 ounces for the same price of $4.98!!!
I will either find an alternative or try to make them myself! I am outraged at this! I used to buy 3 or 4 at a time, but I will not buy them anymore!
You have lost a good and loyal customer! Your loss!!

An absolute MUST stop when you’re in Slaton! We’ve been coming here for years and we love it. Friendly staff and such delicious baked goods, cookies, donuts, cinnamon rolls, donut holes… you make it, they bake it and it’s delicious!

I read about the Slaton Bakery in the Texas Monthly. I was compelled to stop for a visit while on a road trip from Texas to Arizona.
The staff was helpful and quick to wait on me. They offered several samples for me to try. The buttery vanilla wafers were my favorite. I tried the ginger snaps and the sugar cookie which was very good.
I purchased a package of vanilla wafers to take home and used them to make banana pudding since they gave me the recipe. On the spicy savory side check out the delicious trail mix.
I would recommend you stop and enjoy a sweet treat, savory treat and a bit of history.

Iv been going to this place since I was born, and it’s been consistent all these years.. Their burritos are the most simplest yet most delicious because of how they are made.. The donuts, cake, the food everyhring is just got and the consistency is key… I love this place and if I ever have kids, will bring my kids here..
