Friendly and attentive staff.
Small menu but difficult to decide. We like trying out as much as possible so orderwd two appetizers and two entres to share.
The chicory salad was dwlicious although on the smaller side, I could have had double the serving. So was the steak tartare, but seasoning was on point.
The duck breast was extra crisp and a surprisingly portion which we were not able to finish. The shirt rib was very rich.
Too full to have desert
The food was outstanding. From the appetizers to the mains, everything was well-prepared and beautifully presented. The Beef Wellington in particular was a standout — perfectly cooked, tender, and rich in flavor. The sides complemented the dish well and rounded out the meal wonderfully.
The service was impeccable. Attentive, friendly, and professional, the staff made us feel welcomed and cared for without ever being intrusive. It’s clear that they put thought into the guest experience, and it elevated the evening.
If I had to give one small piece of constructive feedback, it would be that with such a memorable setting and high-quality dishes, it would be fantastic to see the cocktail menu feature a few more unique, signature creations that match the elevated vibe of the restaurant. The drinks were good, but the space deserves cocktails that are as unforgettable as the view and the food.
Overall, The Sky Room is a must-visit in Long Beach. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or simply want an evening to remember, this place delivers with incredible views, excellent food, and service that makes you feel valued. Highly recommend!
I’ve visited this restaurant several times hoping it would improve, but each visit confirms the same pattern: great drinks, disappointing food, and unprofessional service. The cocktails are consistently well made, but I’ve never had a single dish that stood out or made me want to return for the food.
During my most recent visit, the staff’s attitude and lack of transparency were unacceptable. On Halloween, I was refused service for wearing a tasteful Queen of Hearts costume that included a medical corset I use for back support, a multicolored blouse, and a tiara. Nothing about my outfit was inappropriate, offensive, or revealing. The restaurant had suddenly created a “no costumes” policy that was never posted online or on-site, and when I politely asked to see it, the staff became defensive and rude.
I was told my outfit didn’t meet their “business casual” standard because they wanted to maintain a high-class dining environment. Ironically, I often wear the same corset under a blazer for actual business meetings. Meanwhile, another guest wearing an equally revealing outfit was allowed to stay, which made the enforcement feel inconsistent and discriminatory.
To make matters worse, that same couple was later denied rooftop access on her birthday due to a poorly advertised private event—another example of this restaurant’s poor communication and lack of customer consideration.
I’ve dined in fine restaurants around the world, and I’ve never been made to feel as unwelcome, judged, or humiliated as I did here. Between the rude staff, inconsistent policies, disappointing food, and lack of professionalism, I can no longer recommend this place to anyone looking for genuine hospitality or respect.
See attached photos of our group—clearly not the “low class” image we were unfairly accused of presenting.
The restaurant is tucked inside the newly renovated Fairmont Breakers Hotel and wow, they nailed the vibe. Think vintage glamour meets modern sophistication. The hostess was super sweet and sat us at a window table with panoramic views of the harbor and city, major date night energy!
Our server Jessica was a star. Friendly, knowledgeable, and she had the best menu recs that made our night. Service overall was seamless, everyone worked as a team, so we never had to flag anyone down. Attentive without hovering, which is rare!
Drinks:
I started with an Old Fashioned made with Japanese whiskey (Jessica even offered to smoke it loved the extra flair). My bf went with the Smoke ‘n Mirrors super smoky, strong, and perfect for sipping. Later, I switched to white wine to pair with my meal.
Food highlights:
Parker House Rolls & Cultured Butter – Two warm little rolls to kick things off. Simple but perfect.
Oysters with Green Tomato Mignonette – Briny, fresh, and that tangy mignonette was spot-on.
Marinated Local Tomatoes – Jessica’s pick and she was right. The stracciatella cheese (aka the gooey inside of burrata) with tomatoes was so refreshing, totally converted us into stracciatella fans.
Alaskan Halibut – Almond crust gave it a delicate crunch, the Weiser potatoes & sorrel cream tied it all together. I legit cleaned my plate.
Liberty Farms Duck Breast – My bf’s pick. Cooked perfectly pink with a flavorful sauce. He was impressed.
Grilled Romano Beans – The one miss for me. The olive tapenade & oven-dried tomatoes just didn’t hit. Would skip next time.
Peach Flambe– Done table-side with all the drama. Fun presentation, tasty dessert. Next time I’m going for the banana flambe.
By the end, we both agreed that Sky Room absolutely impressed us from start to finish! From the setting to the service to the food, everything just flowed. Can’t wait to come back. Big thanks to Jessica and the whole crew for such a memorable night!
The tasting menu was $135 and included five very solid dishes—black caviar, lobster, quail, and more. The standout for me was the lamb dish—it was absolutely delicious. We didn’t go for any dish upgrades or wine pairing, but even without that, the experience felt complete and satisfying.
Service was excellent. We only had a 2-hour window, and the staff went out of their way to ensure everything was timed perfectly without feeling rushed.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for a fine dining experience in Long Beach with a view to match.
Steak ✅
Butter salad ⛔️ too salty & bitter lettuce, apples had no flavor
Brussel sprouts ✅ ✅✅ very tasty
Mashed potatoes ✅✅✅
Spinach ✅⛔️ very well made but again over salted
Apple strudel fun experience when they push the cart up to prepare your dessert with the flame show but the taste wasn’t anything special. The apples weren’t hot, ice cram was good.
Whisky Sour ✅✅✅ very good
Lemonade ✅✅✅ very good
Waitress very attentive and informative. Every time water was pour it splashed on the table leaving a wet ring on my glass bottom.
Everything was presented quite elegantly.
Ohh but the napkins! I thought my husband had crumbs on his black vest but turned out to be the napkin causing white lent so I check my black pants and sure enough, the same thing Bring a lint roller.
