Found this gem while driving toward Mount Baker and decided to stop in the small town of Skykomish. The town itself is charming with a railroad running right through the center, and Sky River Coffee fits perfectly into that vibe.
I needed to attend a meeting and this spot was ideal. They have both indoor and outdoor seating with Wi-Fi, which worked great. I chose to sit outside since it was nice and chilly, sipping hot coffee while working, and it was perfect.
The coffee was excellent and the desserts we tried were just as good. What stood out even more was the people working there. They were kind, helpful, and even suggested places to check out nearby. It felt like more than just a café — it gave off such a welcoming and happy atmosphere that you just want to sit and enjoy for a while.
They also had some cucumbers for dogs outside
If you’re anywhere near this area, Sky River Coffee is a must-stop, not only for the drinks but also for the charm of the town and the warm hospitality.

I think the main appeal here is that this is a real coffee shop, with a real espresso machine, in a tiny cute town. We have been here twice for our coffee fix while road tripping. It’s a great place for a book, and there is a toy area if you have kids. The only reason I take away a star is because, in my opinion, the coffee is good not great. I’ve tried their drip as well as their lattes. Taste is subjective (I prefer very light roasts), and this is better than anything else nearby. Also, I suspect the pastries are from Costco. Regardless, Sky River Coffee Is great for a quaint town, but it’s not like a hipster Seattle sort of coffee shop. That’s part of its charm, I suppose. And we will definitely keep coming back.

This is a pretty neat coffee shop right in the heart of the quaint little railroad town known as Skykomish.
If you haven’t stopped by you really should. Definitely take a weekend and check it out. There are amazing places to stay between Gold Bar, Index, Baring, and Skykomish. Take a slow lazy weekend and just chill. Check out the scenery, railroad museum, and a couple small shops. Get a beverage at Sky River Coffee. Check out the Cascadia or the Whistling Post for some good grub.
Give these little towns up the mountain a chance to show y’all what else they have to offer.

Great stop-in place to just visit and warm up or pop in for a nice beverage on the way to Leavenworth on Hwy 2. Mo makes the difference for this gem of a place – coffee, tea or cold drink… it’s a very well kept and cozy corner of Skykomish, Wa.

Not only does this spot make an excellent latte, I was greatly impressed with the speed at which they were turning out drinks on a busy Saturday! The pass was shut down temporarily due to overflow and I waited less than 5 min for my drink even though the cafe was packed! The latte was super good and I even saw the barista remake drinks for patrons that had asked. Good coffee, great service. Would recommend. Also it’s cute inside and they have free chess and other games. Looks like a good spot for summer too.

This is the cutest and quaintest coffee shop in town! If you’re passing through, you’ve got to stop at Sky River Coffee in Skykomish for a fine cup of coffee or a latte or whatever strikes your fancy! There’s a cozy fireplace in there! And Mo, the owner, strives to make everyone feel welcome and warm. She is friendly and down to earth, and her regulars love her!

My experience today at Sky River Coffee was extremely disappointing. This was my first time visiting, and I walked in with a group of friends expecting a welcoming atmosphere. Instead, the barista not the one with dark hair, but the other was consistently rude and displayed a very negative attitude toward both my husband and me.
Everything I said to her was met with a harsh tone, dismissive body language, or an unfriendly response. I kept questioning whether I had done something to cause this behavior, but it became clear that her attitude had nothing to do with us. She continued to be just as rude when speaking to my husband, which made the experience even more uncomfortable.
My husband overheard the dark-haired barista ask her coworker if she was okay, and the girl said yes. Regardless, I don’t think we should have been treated like that, especially as new customers coming in hoping to enjoy some coffee.
Overall, I was very disappointed that my husband, our friends, and I had such a negative experience during what should have been an enjoyable first visit.

Sky River coffee is like Skykomish itself. Full of great vibes as epitomized by it’s owner, lovely Mo. Great coffee, cappuccino, espresso and hot chai, yum! Actually, I’m sure all of those are good because during my three weeks stay there I went almost everyday. If you have kids there’s a little corner just for them. Perhaps you could add to the art on the wall?Sit inside and chat or read or go out to their sunny porch and enjoy the amazing view of the mountains that surround this little piece of coffee heaven.
