I’d absolutely recommend SKIPS in Battlefield after tonight! We had a 5pm dinner booked. Greeted by a lovely friendly chap behind the bar called Bill (who called me by my first name as per booking! Nice touch! Worked for me ).
We were then seated and attend to by “waiter extraordinaire” Tom. I could tell early on, due to the nos seated in the restaurant, that they were probably a staff member on the floor down, however neither Tom nor rest of staff ever gave that away. They continued to get busier, but without even the faintest hint of a ‘flap’ they greeted and served continuously. Ever attentive and friendly throughout.
The service was perfect. The food was honestly MEGA delicious. As we were seated before 5.45pm we had choice of 6 for £6 starter, and 10 for £10 main menu, or a La carte menus. We decided to mixed and match between both. Have to say the 6 for 6 and 10 for 10 menus are the most amazing value! We had the seafood casserole from the 10 for £10 menu, as a shared starter, with additional garlic bread. Delicious fresh seafood and just sooooooo moorish! The calamari in the casserole was one of the freshest and most delicious ever!
The steak as our main we had also from 10 for £10 menu. It was cooked to perfection accompanied by an abundance of pepper sauce and THE best chunky chips! We also had extras of broccoli and dauphinois from the main menu.….both yum! All in all a very enjoyable evening, fabulous customer service from all in-house and the most delicious food! BIG thank you to our top waiter Tom, the friendly Bill, the wonderful chef, and the very busy kitchen-hand, who were all clearly going the extra mile tonight! Also good beers on draft and a nice smooth house red too! Our first visit but we shall DEFO be back!

Birthday dinner, service was great, made us feel so welcome. The tunes were brilliant and let us stay for a good while to celebrate my birthday. The drinks were fantastic, would highly recommend the Mai Thai cocktail with the extra special touch. The roast was great and so we’re the oysters. Only downside was that my fellow guests did not rate their chips but the rest made up for it. Highly recommend.

A wonderful primarily seafood restaurant on Battlefield Rd. I do not enjoy seafood at all but there is a range of great other types of dishes to make anyone happy. I thoroughly recommend the house steak pie. The hand made burgers are very superior to what passes in some other establishment. As i was in company, it was not really appropriate for me to take photographs on this visit. We would like to thank manager Bill for his great service on our past visits. We wish him all the best as he relinquishes his post and moves to pastures new. Best wishes for the future.

We chose this restaurant due to a recommendation from my sister , it did not disappoint!
The options were plentiful, it was hard to choose as everything sounded amazing and different.
The service was excellent, our waiter was a smart gentleman with tattoos, he was so lovely and even listening to him speak with other customers he was very good at his job.
We had mussels frites and lobster ravioli as well as two desserts , portions were great .
Absolutely no complaints from us , we will definitely return .

Stumbled upon this place after needing a last minute dinner – highly recommend the seafood casserole (more like a stew). So tasty and the kids enjoyed their burger too. Such a kind server who went above and beyond for us. This made the experience so much more special – thank you!

Excellent seaood, the crab fritters were divine, the seafood stew packed with well cooked ingredients, the calamari meltingly soft in crispy coating and the crab on sourdough were all totally delicious. The steak and burgers went down a treat too. Super friendly staff gave us excellent service. We had a great time and hope to be back soon.

I enjoyed it here, most dishes were great and you can’t find fault with the value on the £9 fish tea deal. The oysters, ceviche and lobster ravioli were excellent. I wasn’t a big fan of the fruit crumble as it was powdery and the cinnamon was overpowering. I’d definitely come back though.

This was our first visit to Skips Seafood Bar and Diner in Battlefield. Very tasty it was too.

I did the foodie equivalent of double denim… Fish followed by fish! Well… It is a seafood restaurant! Be rude not to.

Whitebait starter for me. Few places served it, which is such a shame as it is a favourite of mine.

We both had the fantastic value fish tea for main.

My dessert was a delicious fruit crumble with ice cream.
My wife had the Tiramisu!

She actually makes a legendary Tiramisu and always tries it in a restaurant, only to be disappointed.

Her verdict of Skips Tiramisu?

“It tastes like mine”! ♥️

Well I never!

Tea and coffee as part of the fish tea deal rounded off a fabulous feast with fantastic service too.

Planning a return already.

fish is excellent with perfect crispy layer
chips is crispy also but if it put in a basket wouldn’t affect by steam to become soft
steak is overcooked as we order medium well but it still delicious with it high quality pepper sauce, give a thumb up to the chef.A small advise is no need to put salt into the mushrooms cause it will cover the Umami.
Service and the area is comfortable. It is a nice place for people to have a lunch or afternoon tea.

Skips at Largs – can’t see a Google page so adding my review to this page. First week open and no alcohol licence so best to check before you go, I think you can take your own. Food was nice although service a bit slow and server seemed surprised we wanted to see dessert menu ‍♀️ We’ll give it a month or so before we try again so they can iron out issues.
