These clam fritters? *slams fist on table* delicious. It is so good with the tartar too. The lobster roll was more like a 7/10. It was good but I don’t think I would go out of my way to try it again. The fries and coleslaw though?so0000 good. Devoured. I would come for those alone. And service was exceptional. The guy taking our order was patient and answered our questions on what he recommends.

OOF. Skippers fell off since I was last there ~2 years back. These may be isolated issues, but I was hit with a few at once.

Positives: Service was solid, positive vibes from the employees, great fries, and malt vinegar in abundance, which is always great.

Negatives: Price has notably increased, online coupons weren’t functional, and food quality took a real hit.

The fish wasn’t properly dried before dredging, so the under-seasoned batter ballooned around the fish rather than sticking to it. This makes for paradoxically dry fish and an exterior missing the crunch that makes for a good fish and chips.

The cocktail sauce was SO odd, only a little thicker than water and bafflingly flavorless. Normally cocktail sauce is just ketchup + horseradish, so I can only imagine there was some sort of accident during prep.

I hope this doesn’t feel overly negative, but for people like me who don’t make much money and for whom seafood is an occasional treat, shelling out almost $30 for something that winds up worse than any frozen fish I’ve had is a real bummer.

Haven’t been to Skippers in a while. Stopped by today and ordered fish and chips. The food was good, but the portion size for the price was laughable. I literally had 7 fries on my plate. I said something to the gentleman at the counter and he said that’s the serving size for fries. I pointed out other orders that had more appropriate amounts of fries and he said they’re “different orders” – what?! For the price I paid, I didn’t find the portion size acceptable. Two small pieces of fish is already ridiculous, but barely any fries?? I’m sorry, but that’s incredibly skimpy. I will not be returning to Skippers. So many better options that give you more bang for your buck.

$40 for this. My friend’s hot dog had more fries than mine, so I’m confused by the whole “different orders” reasoning. I understand things are expensive, but this is unacceptable for the price.

Nice casual small sea food restaurant. Lots of menu selections. No beer or wine. Appears to be very family friendly. Don’t know if they have outdoor seating. Worth going to.

It was our first time and I can’t wait to return. We ordered the shrimp tacos, lobster bisque, fish and chips platter (loved the fries), Santorini salad, and lobster rolls. Everything tasted great, the service was quick inside and then we waited for our food which didn’t take too long. When I paid I signed up for their rewards program and it was worth it because I was able to use my points (cash back for buying food) the same day. I went back after I ordered because I forgot to order the lobster rolls. I highly recommend this place if you are in the area.

We live in the middle of the state & came to niantic for our anniversary. This place is exactly what you expect to find on the ct coast. All I wanted was a lobster roll before we headed home. I got it and it was fantastic. Prices are decent, staff is great & helpful. We’ll be back next time. Oh and easily the best fries I’ve ever ever had. My husband thought so too.

My family and I have been coming here for almost 20 years. In that time, Skippers has never failed to deliver. The atmosphere is second to none, and the food is exactly what you want: fried, comfort food – as consistent as it gets.

Is it a bit pricey? Sure – but all seafood is nowadays. Skippers is the no-nonsense restaurant experience emblematic of a day on the NE coastline. But the views at sunset can’t be beat, with a great staff to make dinner easy. And a bonus – the trains have kiddos mesmerized, particularly the new Amtrak Acela.

Second bonus – it’s BYOB, and Mermaid’s next door is a neighborhood establishment.

We’ll be back without hesitation.

We love Skippers, We drive over an hour to eat there once or twice a month. Food is delicious and always hot. Staff are polite and friendly. They also allow me to order a child’s portion as I would never be able to eat a regular portion.

My partner and I both had CT style lobster rolls. We ordered at the counter and sat inside with our toddler. We spent $90 for two lobster rolls with fries and two drinks. The food was good but I’m giving it 4 stars because of the price felt a little high.

10/10 recommend. The salmon wrap and fish tacos are my favorite! The food is always fresh and priced well. It’s my go to place for seafood in the area!
