Reserved a table online but it was a pretty slow night. The doorman pointed us upstairs to the restaurant from the hotel lobby. The place is beautiful from the upholstery to the lighting. The drinks were amazing and the entrees were absolutely delicious. Worth every penny. Our servers were great too. Over all, a wonderful experience.

Skies is my favorite place to visit in Grand Forks. Unlike a lot of bars downtown, the atmosphere is a lot quieter and relaxing. It’s a great place to visit after work and get a cocktail or two. Randy and Tyler are absolute show stoppers when it comes to running the bar. They are knowledgeable and make great conversation.

The food is also amazing at skies. I always try something different there, and it always meets or exceeds my expectations. From the tender gamey lamb shank to the divine chocolate decadence, nothing misses on that menu. They continue to put out some of the best food I’ve ever tasted in Grand Forks. Absolutely worth the stop if you can.

So, looking online it’s very apparent what we ordered should have tasted better. So first off the appetizers were really good. We got the mozza appetizer and some crab cakes. We were super excited to try the main meal. Well I was a bit disappointed to see their voodoo pasta wasn’t a creamy style pasta. And the shrimp alfredo is what I would have wanted but it was just the chicken alfredo. That you pay $12 more to put shrimp on. So I figured I’d just try the voodoo pasta. It was sweet and not at all what I expected. But it was still Ok. The real problem was the lamb shank. It had no other flavor the only thing I could taste was gamey flavor. Similar to liver and onions. It was our first time trying lamb and the meat itself seemed tender and it looked pretty good. But the flavor was horrible. I googled it and lamb shanks are supposed to be more gamey but not to the point of tasting like an organ. We ended up eating only the sides and left it on the plate. We also planned to get a dessert. Unfortunately, the lamb was so bad we decided to be done. Our server was so attentive and as I said the appetizers were really good. But that lamb really ruined the experience for us.

Great ambience!
The food was fantastic – terrific flavors.
It was hard to choose from a good looking menu, and wish I had room for the cheesecake, it looked delicious.

Skies definitely lived up to my expectations! I went there with my girlfriend for our 3 year anniversary and they were super nice and we were given a free desert for the occasion! The food was incredible. Usually higher end places tend to be not worth the price in my eyes but the food we ate was delicious and I would eat it again. The service was good no complaints and I liked the location and we had a view out the window it was very nice.

The first experience here was awesome. The service was quick and friendly with lots of smiles. The food was delicious and very pleasing. The crab cakes and omelet were perfection. Kudos to the chef! The parmesan garlic breakfast potatoes were perfect. It’s definitely a place to visit if you want to try upscale food without beaking the bank. A a must try, the Bloody Mary. We’ll balanced with spicy, salty, tangy and sweet. How can you go wrong with candied bacon? UPDATE: Mar 24th, still the best Bloody Mary in GF. Homemade spicy tomato juice, fantastic candied bacon, and the pickle puts it over the top. The eggs benedict was awesome and the capicolla ham was the perfect marriage. The omelet was fluffy and the ham, cheese and mushrooms were mixed and not folded. Mixing ensured you got something in every bite. Haven’t tried the dinner menu yet, but its in the plan. AUG 3rd, very enjoyable breakfast. The crab cakes are wonderful and they hit the spot. Tried the salmon omelet and it was amazing. Fluffy eggs, the smoke salmon was perfect, just the right amount of cheese, and the scallions was the perfect hint of freshness. Service was outstanding and very pleasant. Add this to your food stops, it’s a “can’t miss” location.

Food was okay. Got the Korean BBQ short rib special. Rice pilaf was pretty plain and the short rib didn’t have much of a Korean BBQ flavor, however the broccolini was cooked perfectly. Others at my table got the prime rib, they said the flavor was nice but the cuts were very inconsistent from one plate to the next. Some were definitely not 10oz. Not the best place for a meat dinner, could definitely get better elsewhere for less.

Quite unimpressed, actually. Made a brunch reservation. Quite the fiasco. Was put on hold for 6 minutes, the person answering the phone finally came back, asked what I wanted (really? I’m calling a RESTAURANT!) Arrived for our designated reservation and they lost it. 3 wait staff just looked at each other. So on our special occasion, we were seated at the bar. Our waiter blythly apologized for the mistake but waited on us like any other bar patron, knowing they made a mistake but not making any effort to make it right.
We could have gone to any hotel serving breakfast and gotten better service. Decided right when they sat us in the bar we were nothing special, but the regulars got chatted up like it was a Cheers episode. I expected more. Not worth the hype. Food was good, but overshadowed by poor customer experience.
