One of my favorite breakfast places!

I came in hungry, and I left being full.

I ordered the Western Omelet, sub Swiss, I got the Hash Brown with grill onions, and I asked for the Texas Toast.

I loved the crispy hash browns. It was perfect for me.

Great portion sizes. Great customer service (very attentive), and a good size restaurant.

I would recommend dining in here.

First time here. Everything was amazing! Seated immediately, waitress was fast attentive and really nice. Pancakes…wow! Hot fluffy delicious, they heat up their syrup.. game changer. Eggs perfect they know what they’re doing. Scrambled eggs not rubbery and dry like most places. Fried eggs, they actually know how to do proper fried egg, not runny and jiggly at all. Cornbeef hash also really good. Hashbrowns were really good too..could be slightly more crispy but still great taste. Good coffee. Steak skillet best ever good quality steak. If you have never been here you must try it, you will not be disappointed. They have nice little touches to everything…sprinkle of chives on eggs, hot syrup etc. The atmosphere is really nice too big open floor lots of light and not too hot in there. We will definitely be back to try more.

This was hands down the best breakfast experience of my life. The service was excellent, and the food completely blew me away. I ordered an iced latte, a steak skillet, and the ultimate oatmeal — each one was absolutely perfect.

I travel the world trying different breakfast spots, and this one has officially taken the number one spot on my list. On top of that, the prices are extremely reasonable for the quality you get. I drove nearly six hours from Canada just to try it, and it was more than worth it.

If you haven’t been here yet, you’re seriously missing out. I highly recommend it and honestly wish I could tell the whole world about this place.

S&J’s Cafe has quickly become our family’s absolute favorite spot! We’ve been there at least five times now, and it never disappoints. The food is seriously delicious—generous portions, fresh, and homemade-tasting breakfast and brunch classics that hit the spot every time.
The kids absolutely love it, and the welcoming, friendly staff makes everything feel so nice and relaxed. It’s the perfect cozy, family-friendly place for a great meal with great people.
Highly recommend if you’re in the Shelby Township / Utica area—it’s worth the visit!

Honestly a very solid experience over all. A must try for any brunch spot. My partner and I came here for breakfast recently and we were pleasantly surprised by everything. the layout of the resturant was very welcoming, staff was very friendly, attentive and patient with us (we came in an hour before closing on a Sunday and took a while to order). The overall experience was just amazing. I order the spinach & feta omelet and shared some chicken and waffles with my partner. The portions were very generous and they didn’t miss a beat on anything. The omelet was stuffed and flavorful, the waffles were thick and fluffy, the chicken was crispy and tender, plus it was served with warm syrup. And the prices were more than fair. Honestly If I’m nit picking, maybe the hash browns could’ve been cooked a little bit lighter, but they were more than enjoyable. I will absolutely be coming back, there’s clearly a great team behind it, S&J’s Cafe is truly a local gem.

It was fairly empty but not surprising for a Monday morning. The tables were cute and had a real rose on each one. Our waitress was so nice and the food was delicious!

Was really looking forward to trying this place after several people have said how amazing it was. Upon walking in, the restaurant was quite large and had a open kitchen. Note to self, do not wash your hair before you go because you will leave smelling like restaurant. After being seated, about 10 minutes later, I started looking around for a waitress. We didn’t even have waters. I caught the glance of another waitress and she whispered with three other girls. Finally, a waitress came and asked us what we would like to drink and brought out waters. My husband ordered an omelette which he said was great and very filling. I on the other hand wanted a simple breakfast of eggs and cheese, turkey sausage, and potatoes. They have an item on the menu for eggs, meat and hashbrowns. I might be in the wrong, but I asked the waitress for turkey sausage instead of pork and she said OK. I then asked her what kind of hashbrowns they offered and she said shredded or diced, and I opted in for the diced.

My eggs were cooked really well, but I wasn’t sure if those were only two or three eggs because it was a very small portion. My potatoes were half the plate which I thought was way too much. The sausage seemed dry on one of the patties and the other was better than the first piece I ate. The grits we ordered were also watered down and not thick.

Upon getting our bill, I was shocked for the significant up charge for both of these items. Not once was this mentioned by the waitress that there was going to be an up charge for the turkey sausage or the diced potatoes. So I was definitely taken aback. Paying $16 for a very simple breakfast is diabolical and I would’ve rather gone elsewhere if I knew this was the situation. The QR code on the receipt doesn’t work as I thought this was mobile pay. We went up to the register to pay and I asked her. I didn’t realize there was an up charge and she didn’t apologize. I don’t blame her because she is probably a teenager, but this needs to be communicated. I could’ve gone up the street to a different brunch place and gotten more food for that amount of money. Needless to say, we most likely will not be back.

They do also charge for credit card transactions vs cash transactions… I don’t recall seeing it on the menu, but I also wasn’t searching for it.

Out of all of the brunch diners in metro detroit this one is by far the best. Everything i’ve ordered here is incredible. Bonus points for having espresso drinks. Our server was kind and attentive. Will definitely be back, plenty.
