It all began on January 27, 1958. With $50 in the cash register, Del and Helen Johnson opened “Sizzler Family Steak House” in in Culver City, California. This was the place where everyone could enjoy a great steak dinner at an affordable price. Today, we strive to serve the best hand-cut steaks at the most affordable price for the whole family with the addition of a broad, all-American menu and an abundance of fresh and healthy options. Sizzler is the restaurant where America comes to satisfy its appetite with U.S.D.A. Choice steaks cut fresh daily and cooked over an open flame, fresh seafood, and premium craft soup and salads prepared fresh daily.

We stop at this “blast from the past” restaurant every time we come through in our travels. It’s like seeing nostalgia when we see the sign. The restaurant is familiar to us and reminds us of times we went to one in our youth. Back when it was popular.
This restaurant was founded in Culver City California, with the mission to serve steakhouse quality steak and seafood at a family friendly budget. It also offers a big salad bar that includes more than greens and vegetables. The number of restaurants have dwindled down to a few but as I’ve read , they are working their way to a comeback.
This restaurant location is located in Gallup, New Mexico. Right off the interstate. The road it’s on has plenty of stores and other restaurants, but also convenient to gas stations.
When you walk into the restaurant, you’ll walk down towards the bathroom, then there’s a wall with the menu on your left. Make your selection , then there’s register is ahead of it a few steps away. You’ll pay for your order before you sit down. It’s been our pick of where we are seated. There are booths and tables. The server will bring you your order and drinks. Plus , bring you complimentary Texas sized toast and place them on your table. I loved the peach lemonade with big chunks of fresh sweet peaches.
This last visit my steak was over done but my ribeye steak was still delicious . The server didn’t bring my company his water and failed to notice he didn’t have a drink with his meal. Every other time I would have given 5 stars , but they kinda dropped the ball this last visit for my review.
The salad bar had plenty of things to choose from. You can pay by a one time stop or limitless visit.
This restaurant has a modern , clean white design and minimalist decorum. There are a few tvs to watch. The seatings are spaced out nicely giving plenty of traffic room or wheelchair space to get around.
This is a family friendly restaurant that has tables to accommodate larger groups or bigger families. . Bc this restaurant chain started with the family in mind.

Haven’t been to a Sizzler in a long time, and never been to this one. Just stopped in for a bite while traveling. First off, we were greeted by some jello cubes on the floor of the entry way, yum! As far as our meal, it was not as good as I remembered. Steak (12oz) was pretty small,couldn’t have been more than 6-8oz and not very flavorful. Came with a (small) side (chose steamed veggies) and wasn’t really cheap. I’ve had a lot better for about the same price at a Texas steak chain I won’t mention. Salad bar was meh, some of the food looked like it had been sitting in the bins for a while…im talking to you spaghetti, Mac and cheese, and taco “meat”. I tried the clam chowder too… Basically potato chowder. The cheesy bread was delicious as I remembered. Service from out waiter was good though.

Kid friendly, meaning they look out for the young ones even more. What an enjoyable atmosphere, very clean and serviced was very fast. But the food was great, steaks were cooked to perfection and everything tasted great. When traveling West that is a hot spot to stop for for sure. Any of you looking for a good rest? Stop for an Pop in at the sizzler and you can’t go wrong.

We stopped here on our way to Flagstaff. This is a chain that is traditionally known for its steaks. It is a casual place, where you order at the cash register and then sit and wait for your food (unless you just ordered the salad bar). They have a generous salad bar, but I have to say that it is not cheap. Having said that, our steaks were well prepared and tasted very good. So, for us, it is a great place to stop while on the road.

We moved to Gallup, NM from the teacher apartment in Thoreau today, so we had dinner out. Many of the popular local restaurants are closed on Sunday evenings, so there weren’t many options. We ended up going to Sizzler. We had been to this location about a year ago—I thought the price for the unlimited salad bar had gone up, but it’s still just $7.99 with an entrée, which is quite affordable. The salad bar was great: the vegetables and fruit were fresh, and the hot food was flavorful. The only downside was the side of fries—they were greasy and overly oily.
In the end, we barely touched our entrées because we were already full after two rounds at the salad bar.

Even though the service was pleasant, the noise level was not too loud, the tea was great, and the salad bar was clean and fresh, the overall rating has to be only one star, because the main protein of the entree was extremely overcooked. When something is overcooked at that level, it makes for an unpleasant experience and we will never return.

Enjoyable experience starting with Lyric, who took our order, Summer who brought our food and suggested adding the delicious beef gravy to Alden who showed me where I could joyfully end my meal with ice cream. The restaurant is clean, the salad bar was full and the staff was so genuine. After three days and 1500 miles in a truck this was a welcome change from fast food.

Outstanding food and service. My 12 oz New York strip steak was immaculate and well prepared and flavorful. My server Chris was very attentive and very professional and made sure that my meal was awesome. I recommend sizzler they are the top of the heap because they strive for excellence ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
