We dined at six one six expecting a fun elevated dining experience, particularly given the price point (£200 for two).
The food itself was good, and I want to note that the manager on duty was professional, calm, and genuinely tried to support us when we raised concerns.
Unfortunately, the overall experience was overshadowed by a chaotic and uncomfortable atmosphere. Several nearby tables were extremely loud throughout the evening, with constant movement to and from the bathrooms, shouting across the room, and behaviour that felt disruptive and intimidating rather than celebratory. As the evening progressed, we did not feel safe or relaxed in the environment.
Service was also very slow. We waited approximately 45 minutes between our starter and main course, which the manager explained was due to the restaurant being significantly understaffed that evening.
During our conversation, the manager was open and transparent and explained that security had been expected but did not arrive, and that staff were understandably cautious about intervening due to safety concerns.
When these same concerns were raised with the owner, the response was dismissive and unprofessional. The situation was described as “vibe dining,” and we were told that if we were uncomfortable we could leave. That response was disappointing and not what you would expect from a venue positioning itself at the price tag it is.
This environment may suit some guests, but it is not appropriate for those seeking a safe, relaxed, or fun dining experience. A real shame, as the food and the manager deserved far better support.

Me and my friends were away for the weekend in Chester, I stumbled across this place because it was highly rated on Google- and WOW. We had such an amazing time!!
The music was loud enough to create that “big city” atmosphere, but not too loud so you can hear your table. The food was unreal! We had a mixture of lots of different things on the menu and it was all sosososo good. I understand the price point is a little higher than your average place, but I do believe you won’t find food like it in the bog standard places- it was all lovely and super tasty.
We spoke to the owner, Matthew, quite a bit! He is super friendly and passionate about providing a great service. It’s amazing to see the owner be so hands on in a restaurant. He let us try a new cocktail they’re bringing onto the menu which I thought was really kind (and to die for!)
It’s worth noting that if you don’t like that louder, modern atmosphere then this place might not be for you- but it’s right up our street and we couldn’t fault it!
We’ll 100% be returning and recommending to everyone we know:)

My fourth visit here and as always the food, service and atmosphere were perfection. My go to place every time I visit Chester.
Plenty of gluten free options on the menu and great care is always taken by the owner matthew to ensure no cross contamination. Completely safe for us coeliacs, always feel so relaxed eating here.
FOOD – Pan-Asian, was out of this world and presented beautifully. Sushi was dreamy!
WAIT TIME – was spot on between courses.
COCKTAILS – we’re next level! An absolute must.

I think I ate the best Halloumi I’ve ever had! I’ve eaten at Six One Six twice since the opening and the food is really tasty, and you get loads of it. We didn’t eat all of our food because there was a lot of it, the patatas bravas tasted like they were straight out of Barcelona!
Recommend the Miso Carrot side, Patatas Bravas, HALLOUMI and the Salmon Tacos (not crispy shells, just fresh and tasty)!

Very vibrant and beautifully decorated restaurant and bar. Toilets are well kept and lovely decorated also.
Menu looks amazing and they will be having new menu coming soon. Met the owner who is a really lovely down to earth guy.

Our first visit to the restaurant was this week. We had a great time. The atmosphere was relaxed, the food was brilliant. Its different but plenty of lovely food to try. We were surprised at the value, we expected it to cost a lot more than it did. The restaurant is clean and well designed. The tables are well spaced, so you aren’t squashed in like in many places. The young man running the place that night (Theo I think) was exceptional. Helpful, friendly and funny. He was always there if you needed him, but never intrusive. He’s a real asset to the place. We’ll definitely be back.

Incredible service on my father’s fifty-fourth birthday! The staff really went the extra mile to make his birthday special. Really appreciated the sprinklers! The Sunday roast has top-quality ingredients but we would say that a traditional gravy might have suited the roast more than the jus as it was a little overpowering. Regardless, it was fantastic food and my dad said that the steak was incredible. Really happy with the service, atmosphere and food! Thank you!

The food was absolutely amazing and really couldn’t be faulted. Unfortunately, the service was extremely disappointing and did not match the quality of the dishes.
On a Saturday night, the restaurant only had four tables occupied, yet there were plenty of staff on shift. Instead of engaging with customers, many were standing around chatting amongst themselves, which created an unprofessional atmosphere and made us feel overlooked.
The manager on duty didn’t appear to be taking control of the situation, which only added to the lack of direction we experienced throughout the evening. Towards the end of our visit, a member of staff told us that they haven’t been paying staff and that they were planning to leave as a result. If this is true, it’s very concerning and may explain the low morale and poor service we experienced.
It’s such a shame because the food really was excellent. However, based on the service and what we were told, I wouldn’t recommend visiting, especially with so many other great restaurants to choose from in Chester.

Had the pleasure of dining here last night. Everything from start to finish was just amazing. Especially the service we had the lovely Paul and Theo were top class and the lady that greeted us when we came in I didn’t catch her name all so friendly and nothing was too much. It’s hard to find a place like this nowadays

If you are looking for both elegance and warmth, whilst centered in the heart of Chester – then look no further!
Tonight was yet another occasion I have visited the lovely SIX ONE SIX, and the experience simply gets better each and every time.
Both the food and cocktails, are simply out of this world. There is nothing that is too much for the attentive staff – hospitality and overall experience is second to none.
We engorged in the Chateaubriand steak, a variety of sides, the Oysters and a selection of cocktails – all of which were delectable and made to perfection.
Could not recommend highly enough, thank you for another memorable evening!
