It took us a little while to find the Sitar, as it is set back into a building. The last time we ate at Sitar they were located at University Boulevard over 2 years ago. We found them again on google with pictures of the previous establishment. I guess I was expecting a big restaurant hmmm. The great thing is that the Indian food was still incredibly brilliant and full of wonderful spices. Thank you for keeping the food to a good quality! I would recommend several visits

The food was delicious, and brought out quickly. My first time here and it did not disappoint.

I had high hopes as I have been here before. Needless to say, I was disappointed. The food was bland and the gravy for my CTM was unbelievably watery (see pic) and honestly tasted only of tomato paste. There was absolutely no flavor for the food and was beyond disappointing.

I’ve never had Indian food before, but after going here, I don’t think I’ll ever want to try it anywhere else because Sitar was AMAZING. I got the House Special, Mango Lassi, and Garlic Naan. My bestie got the Chicken Tiki Masala and it was out of this world! Phenomenal. I’ll definitely be going here again. The lentil soup is now one of my top favorite soups. The tomatoes and cilantro just take it to the next level completely! It was warm, flavorful, and perfect for the chilly weather. The spices were unlike anything I’ve ever had before, and you can choose your own heat level. I got mild, which was good enough for me since it was a completely new experience. Our dishes were brought out quickly, our server was really nice and attentive, and the naan was warm and made FRESH. Overall, a 10/10 to me! Next time, I’m definitely going to try the steamed momo and butter chicken.

Pick your level of spice because I did at Sitar Indian restaurant. I must say nothing is like the first restaurant the company owned. I miss that place, but food is still the same high quality. It is why, I just get takeout. Though, the eatery will always get a five star rating from me. Below are pros, cons, and pic’s.

My wife’s Chicken Tikka Masala was delicious. The Chicken Chilly Fry I ate was phenomenal, and I you want it spicy order Indian Hot, it was . Service was fast and friendly. Our Mango Lassies were scrumptious, and perfect after that hot meal

I’m writing this hungry and sad. Ive never written a negative review, but I’m really disappointed to spend $50 on our meal and want to prevent others from making our mistake. I can’t even finish my meal and definitely am not keeping our leftovers. The rice was strange and burned/smoky tasting, so I made our own rice. The two curries tasted like tomato soup with chicken from a can. The naan was really bland and dry, so therefore, the best part of the meal.

I do miss the old location with the buffet. It made me sad to see how much they had to downsize. This restaurant will always have a special place in my heart. Food is amazing as always. My only slight complaint is the mint chutney seemed a little watered down. I had been craving it for a while and it was a little bit of a let down. Everything else was great though even after my hour drive back home.

My favorite Indian restaurant in Birmingham! I have never had a bad dish here (and I’ve tried a lot). I particularly love their Kaju Curry. Need to try this place if you haven’t.
