This is the best Irish restaurant in all of Salem and the surrounding area. Nobody makes a black and tan like they do! It’s the only bar that I know of that carries Kilkenny too! We always order the Curved Beef Egg Rolls! Not surprisingly, all of their pies (Sheppard’s, cottage, etc.) are fantastic! It’s a great soot for pre show spot for food and drinks before a show at Elsinore Theater next door too!

My family and I stumbled upon Sister Irish Bistro, which I would call a total hole-in-the-wall spot with charm. I have read other reviews that it takes while for the food to come out, but come on, this isn’t McDonald’s, right? I got the Shepherd’s pie and it was absolutely delicious. Likely my wife and kids didn’t want any and I got to have it all to myself. My wife went with the lemon salmon, which was equally amazing, though it does come with some mushrooms in the side and she isn’t really a big fan of them. The place has this super cozy, warm vibe that just makes you feel right at home. Sure, it’s not the fastest dining experience, and it’s not the fanciest, but sometimes good food is worth the wait. Definitely a spot I’d recommend for anyone looking for some Irish comfort food with real character. It’s definitely worth another visit.

Become submerged in the Ireland experience and enjoy a homemade meal. Hubby and I enjoyed our dinner date, Sisters Irish Bistro exceeded our expectations. The waiter was very welcoming and kind. We enjoyed the lovely harmonies played by the harp musician. The presentation of the food appeared delicately placed on our plates and meant to be enjoyed. The delicious homemade food was filled with flavor in every bite! We ordered a shepherds pie and the Whiskey Salmon. Each was an excellent choice! Highly recommend both! The mushrooms, asparagus and mashed potatoes bursted with lovely flavors. Gin and tonic and Guinness were a smooth and delightful choice! Ensure to call a day ahead for the Lamb shank, which we definitely will be back for. Highly recommend!

My husband and I make a point of dining at every restaurant in the downtown area, and this one is definitely a favorite. The people are wonderful and the food is consistently delicious. It’s gotten to the point where they recognize us as soon as we walk in and can predict our order, which makes us feel incredibly welcome. Our go-to comfort dish is the colcannon—absolutely delicious.

We were in a rush and stumbled across this place, we were seated fast, however, the cook came out in sweats and smelt like BO, that should of been my first clue to leave, to tell me that they were out of corn beef. I settled for fish and chips and husband got chicken strips. Food came rather quick. People seated next to us were picking at their food and was not thrilled for their next bite. You could taste the grease in our food. And waitress never came to see how either our food or our neighbors food was, did not refill drinks, we had to go catch her for our ticket. Jump forward to last night, both husband and I are sick and next day both are not feeling great. If I could give a negative rating I would. NEVER AGAIN

I’ve only eaten here once, but my experience was awesome! The food was so fresh and delicious and presented hot and timely! Our favorite was the shepherds pie which was loaded with delicious whipped potatoes and topped with golden melted cheese! We will be back to try some more authentic Irish food!

Having just returned from a 10day trip to Ireland a few weeks ago, some friends & I wanted to revisit the Irish Pub vibe, so we checked out this place. It was an utter & complete disappointment. This place had no Irish pub feel at all. It was empty, and even with the simplistic Guinness banners and a few other “Irish” themed decor, the place was completely devoid of any real Irish pub feel. The wait staff was gruff, unwelcoming, and clearly had no wait staff experience (to the degree it made me wonder if she even had valid food handlers & OLCC certification). The food was mediocre at best. I ordered Fish & Chips, the fish was over cooked & the chips (fries) were almost raw. And THEN we had to wait over 30minutes to pay our bill, as we were told that there was only 1 person – the chef – (of the 2 people working) “who could ring us out”. When that person (the chef) came out from the back, we approached to pay our tab & were immediately met with hostility & rudeness; it was clear that us wanting to pay our tab was a complete inconvenience for her. Neither staff had any concept of anything remotely resembling appropriate customer service. We simply wanted to pay our tab & leave but were left feeling like we were being held hostage. 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I’d go for a drink and not the food. The corned beef and cabbage was so bland. Lamb meatloaf was a huge portion but very blah. The salad was mostly cabbage, kinda weird. Cool atmosphere but not good food at all. Server was nice though! If you’re going to Elsinore theater I’d find a better place to eat prior.

I came here about a week ago with a friend during COVID when restaurants are having to adapt to a new protocol for running their business. We were seated outside on the street in front of the Elsinore. There were about five other tables with customers and the owner was very attentive to us all. And honestly just hilarious. It felt like being in the tv show Cheers. She bantered and chatted with all the customers while we waited for our food.
My friend ordered the shepherd’s pie and I ordered the Dublin doodle (Irish sausage, bacon, potato, and carrots cooked in Guinness). The servings were huge! The owner said that all of her food was fresh and made to order and it definitely tasted that way. I would have recommended either dish as they were both awesome. I took half of mine home and it was even better the next day as the flavors had more time to marinade with each other.
I like having places like this in Salem with unique food offerings and the owner bringing her culture to our community. I would definitely go back.

Great little place, food is generally quite excellent. Their hours are a bit odd but you just have to work around them to get their awesome food, we’ve been frequenting them for years now.
