We grabbed a bite here while we were staying at the Martha Washington Inn. The hosts were super friendly and got us right to a table without a reservation. This definitely seemed like a spot people come to for special occasions and we felt a bit underdressed in our hoodies for a quick dinner. However, everyone was very friendly and the food came out pretty quick for them being busy. We ordered a couple burgers and cocktails. The cocktails were good but did take a little bit of time to get them (understandably since the bar was packed). The complimentary house baked focaccia bread and olive oil dip was delicious. The burgers were good but definitely needed more seasoning. The french fries were crisp and fresh. Our server was very busy but attentive and friendly. I will say the $25 voucher for staying at the Inn was very nice. It was worth the visit for that when we needed a quick dinner. We would go back for another dinner if we stay at the Inn.

NOT “UPSCALE” AT ALL. The website prides the Sisters American grill on being perfect for date nights, a place of warm hospitality, and a place for those who want to experience upscale dining. That is not the experience we had at all. My fiance made a 7:30pm reservation online and in that reservation he requested “Dim light. Not near a window. Childfree if possible”. He specified that it was for a “date night”. Reservation was confirmed via phone. It took 8-10 minutes for anyone to notice us when we came in. No, “hi”, no “we will be with you in a minute”. I’m standing in heels and we are both hungry. Someone finally comes, a hostess, and she goes to seat us and and leads us to a large round table for 4 next to a window with some bright alley lights shining through. Not what we asked for. The hostess stands there and says “this is all we have”. There was no attempt to use a “reserved” sign anywhere to ensure we had a table that met our requested specifications for a date night. The hostess makes an excuse saying that the other side of the dining room was closed because a party of 14 was coming in who “was eating downstairs but they said they needed more food so they are coming up here”. I reluctantly sit down by a window away from the fireplace and ask if they can close the window so that the lighting is nicer. The waitress tried but then says “oh the curtains don’t move”. We had to look around quit a bit to move to a spot closer to the fireplace for our date night. Glassware was lunch service style water glasses like something you would find at Applebee’s. It wasn’t upscale at all and didn’t reflect the water glasses in the photos on the website. The service was really slow. Food was burnt and not well seasoned. The croutons in our salad were stale. The cranberry gin drink didnt taste like cranberry at all. The complimentary bread we were served was the butt of a bread cut up into mini rectangles with a balsamic vinegrette that was old and clumpy instead of a baguette/roll basket like advertised on their menu online. I specifically asked the waitress for a roll basket and she said they didn’t have any. She then changed her story and explained after the cut up bread with clumpy vinegrette was served that the bread basket only comes with large plates. Menu was not explained well. Waitresses were brash and rude. It was giving McDonald’s vibes. It was giving staff is jealous of us vibes. We had an issue with our dish and the server and Chef baggered us to eat it instead of replacing it. Chef rolled his eyes and huffed. At that point, I stood up with my fiancé and left. We go to the front hostess stand and ask for the bill for our the food we did eat and the drinks. The waitress/ hostess turns around and says let me go ask. The chef comes back again and keeps arguing with us. Full on aggression. I tried to explain that you can’t charge $52 for a plate of food and not deliver the hospitality that comes along with that. My fiance and I had to plan for childcare to go out for the evening, got dressed nicely and left our house with excitement. It was completely turned to disappointment by the staff at Sister’s American Grill. I never got the impression once that the servers were trying to help us enjoy our time or were trying to give us warm hospitality. I even complained to their management and they never responded or made amends. We also ended up missing our movie this same night because of what happened. Our schedule got thrown off because we still hadn’t eaten dinner. When we left Sister’s American Grill we were still hungry and it was already almost 9pm. We had to look for whatever was open and ended up going to a lower grade steakhouse that was still open. We got exquisite food and top tier service at another restaurant. Ironic.

We had a great stay at The Martha Washington but unfortunately our meal at Sisters was beyond disappointing. The service was extremely slow and our food was served cold. There isn’t much else to say. Serving cold food is simply unacceptable. And yes, we did attempt to inform our server but they avoided us until we needed to leave for our play at The Barter.
We have enjoyed staying at The Martha Washington Inn over the past 15 years but we won’t return to Sisters American Grill.

We recently attended the holiday tea ($45/person). When we first walked in at 11 am (which was when the tea was supposed to begin), we were told that they weren’t set up yet, but we could pick a table. We thought this was strange since we were on time (and other tables were already seated). Indeed, the plates were not even on the chargers – and we did not get them until after the food was placed on the tables. They also served the food before the tea.
When I opened my teapot to fill it with tea (despite calling this event a “high tea,” we had to fill the teapots ourselves), it had mouse poop in it. There were no employees by the tea table, so I moved it out of the way behind the tea urns so no one else would use it. I then saw an employee look into it, and quickly take it away. We asked for a small to-go box to take home one of the items we hadn’t tried and were told we could not take anything home. Keep in mind this was all food we had paid for and was already on our table, and had been touched/picked through by us. We did not ask for any additional food items. All of the food would just be thrown out if we didn’t take it (at least I hope so, but now I have concerns that they were
reusing food from the tables which is disgusting). We paid $200 for 4 adults and had an awful experience. Poor service, mediocre food, and clearly unwashed teapots. We don’t recommend this event to anyone. They should be reported to the health department. I emailed the manager, but it’s been a week and I’ve had no response.

Sarah was our server and she was absolutely wonderful! The food was delicious. My mom got the salmon with corn risotto. Cooked perfectly and a large serving! I got the portobello mushroom dish – wow!!! Two huge pieces of mushroom with bleu cheese, zucchini and arugula on top and mashed potatoes underneath the mushrooms. One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time and mom agrees. We topped it off with the carrot cake bread pudding. Yummy.

I brought family from Arizona to the restaurant on Labor Day and they fell in love with the restaurant and the food. We each ordered things that were shared with the table, giving each person a broader vision of the dishes. Alisha was our server and she gave wonderful suggestions and answered questions about the different menu items. Her help was greatly appreciated, she is a great representative of Sisters at the Martha. Thank you to Alisha and the kitchen staff for such a wonderful dining experience!

Had a wonderful dinner and experience on Saturday evening after a play at the Barter Theater.
Dinner was delicious. Sarah was our waitress and she was personable and very attentive. Atmosphere is always lovely here. Can’t wait to dine again.

Food was bland and lacked excitement. Staff was friendly but service uneven. The atmosphere was old world on the inside and need of a good cleaning on the outside areas.

Had a fabulous meal here with my son. He got the delicious Shepherd’s pie and I got the yummy salmon. The server was so thoughtful about my son’s tree nut allergy and the food was tremendous. We loved the sorbet for dessert. A really lovely dinner in a beautiful place.

Our first experience at Sister’s Restaurant was delightful because of our server, Katie. She knew it was our 41st wedding anniversary celebration and she did her best to make it perfect. There clearly was a snafu going on in the kitchen, but it did not deter Katie and her excellent service, professionalism and friendliness. Her beautiful calm demeanor was unshakeable. We will return to Sister’s and ask for Katie.
Also, I must mention that the breakfast at Sister’s, which is included in your stay at the Martha Washington, was extraordinary – absolutely delicious. Again, one of the best parts was the service given to us by Alisha and Karen. They were both so sweet, kind, and accommodating. They made you feel very much “at home” while having breakfast in the restaurant.
