I now know what soul food feels like. This is incredible! We got the fried whiting with side of Mac and collards—life changing. The Mac? Smooth, cheesy, the right amount of pull. And the collards are indescribable. We foolishly asked if the fish came with sauce (I apologize)—it is perfect as is! Finished with banana pudding for dessert, which had a layer of wafers under the top. Amazing!

BEST SOUL FOOD in Asheville! Everything about this place reminds me of my grandmother’s soul food growing up. I ordered the Fried Whiting fish, it was so delicious and crispy. I got Mac n Cheese and Green Beans as my two sides. I also got one of their juices in the front. My tastebuds were amazed! I will definitely return with friends next time to try more of their menu. They have just started this year, Sept. 2025. You may want to call and order ahead. Great story behind how they got started. Go check them out and you won’t be disappointed! 10/10

I only got the side of mac n cheese, but it was only $3 and the portion was actually a crazy good size. It was super delicious and I got my food so fast. Definitely worth it.

I knew food had to be good. The line was out the door. The customer service they provide is definitely what Asheville should be known for. The food was amazing, 10/10 seasoned just right. My family loved the area and the environment. Definitely check them out.

As a former Alabamian, I know good soul food. And boy, has Asheville been lacking in that department until now. Took me 5 years of living here to finally find something that reminds me of back home. I tried the whiting fish, mac & cheese, & broccoli casserole via doordash delivery and all were delicious. The whiting fish was crispy and seasoned well. The serving sizes of the sides were impressive too. I will be a repeat customer. Thank you for finally bringing some good southern food to this town.

Don’t be fooled by this little hidden treasure! We had the neck bones which were so tender. Also had pork chops, flavorful and fried perfectly. Beans were so good- had that long, slow-cooked flavor. Portions were generous and staff was friendly and willing to describe dishes. Do not skip the banana pudding! I’ve only had banana pudding that good once before. Would absolutely go back!

This is what local food should taste like. I really enjoyed everything. The gravy on the rice was great. The Mac and cheese is creamy and cheesy, and you don’t get just two pork chops, you get 3.
Just good people and good food thats not over priced and you will get more than enough to fill you up.

I am, to use one of Mike Tyson’s favorite words “ecstatic”, that the Sistas On Montford has opened in Asheville. I came across their page here on Facebook while I was just scrolling. I’m so glad that I just came across their page. Me and my son went over there for the first time on Friday 9/26/2025. And got their fried fish. May I just say the dinner delicious. I asked Rhonda if they were a true soul food restaurant. You know do you have chittlins, and she said yes. She said they would have some today. So I sent my son over to get my chittlin dinner. A soul food restaurant in Asheville has been long overdue. I don’t think it will be very long before they have to move into a bigger place. Because they are always packed. I wish Sistas On Montford much success and happiness in their new adventure! JC
