Nice hole in the wall, off the beaten path. The staff here are very friendly. The interior decor definitely gives the place a quaint theme. The food and prices were great. The chicken fried steak was well seasoned and breaded. My only complaint was that it was salty (without the gravy). And despite being slathered in gravy, the steak kept it’d crunchy texture.
The salad bar was a nice touch. Nothing elaborate; just a simple salad bar with a few options each for dressing, vegetables, and various toppings.
The fried catfish was also good too. Like the chicken fried steak, the breading was also well-seasoned (using corn meal).
The only downside was that I (and most in our party) did not receive our hushpuppies (they looked great!).
It’s a nice restaurant worth checking out if you get the chance. Would come back again.

Ole time building, and all that goes with it. Very friendly people that work there, and even the customers were so welcoming. We got to witness one of the workers grandchildren. They were so sweet, and full of energy. My wife and I love seeing the children with mom, and grandma. The food was good ole home cooking. You can’t go wrong with a visit to Sissy’s. If you go, slow down and enjoy.

The culture and essence of Hineston /Melder all in one place. Housed in historic building from 1880’s the food is very good as is salad bar. Seafood buffet is worth the wait. Staff are full of southern hospitality. Worth the stop!!

I heard so many good things about the food here so took my family to check it out. Got there only to wait 10 minutes before we got our drinks, waited around 10 minutes for them to put very little food on the buffet, so we only got minimal food to be courteous to the other 6 people waiting on food behind us, then waited around half an hour just to have a little more food put out. It is like they are scared that one peice of fish would be left over at the end of the night or something. Had to hunt our waitress down to refill the drinks & she NEVER picked up one plate or cup to give us some room at the tiny table. One of the people that recommended this place to me was actually there that evening. He came up to us to see what we thought. Don’t get me wrong, the food did taste good but the buffet time & service sucked bad. He actually said “Yeah I don’t get the buffet anymore because there is never any food up there!”. Wish he would have told me that part before. The owner came up to speak to me when I was paying (for what I don’t know, $60 for 2 adults & a 2 yr old to not really get any food besides a salad) because I’m sure she saw I looked aggravated, I told her about the experience but do not think it did much good. Could have offered $5 off or something. Anyway, I will steer anyone away from here that I can to save them the same ordeal we went through. I’m a business owner myself & this is not how you keep customers by far.

Fish I ordered but did not eat. Baked potato good. Local business, unique atmosphere. Good salad bar with fresh ingredients, but limited selection. Extra fee for credit card.
