I’ve been living downtown the past few years and I used to come to this shop when it was the Virginia Cheese Shop. Ohh yay! The sandwiches haven’t changed one bit. I love the rebranding name Sirens Subs. Anything mermaid I’m all for because Norfolk’s mascot is obviously a mermaid. This cute little sandwich shop is a go to of mine because it’s honestly the closest shop to my house. I’m thankful to have this shop in the area. If you know me then you know that I will try anything twice. I’ve only had great sandwiches here. The local sub names are a cool touch to the menu. My goal is to try as many sandwiches on the menu as I can. As of right now, my top two subs are the Norfolk Club without ham and the Lemon-Whipped Feta on rotation. I hope they bring back some grilled cheese seasonal sandwiches in the fall and near the holidays like they had at the Virginia Cheese Shop days. I really would go more often if they were open after my work hours. The service is fast with a simple order kiosk at the front for in dining and to go orders. A must go to on days off though or I would spend all my money here. The hours for Sirens Subs are Tuesday-Saturday 11am-3pm. Go check out these subs and show them some love by giving them a review.

I stopped into Sirens Subs and ordered the Amore Sandwich, Zack’s Way on fresh focaccia—and wow, it completely blew me away. From the very first bite, the flavors instantly transported me back to my time in Italy. The focaccia had that perfect crunch on the outside with a soft, airy inside, and the layers of meats, cheese, and fresh toppings came together in true Italian fashion.
What makes this place even more impressive is that it’s a one-woman operation. The quality, care, and flavor packed into every bite show just how much passion is behind the counter. Sirens is definitely punching way above its weight, delivering sandwiches that rival (and honestly surpass) most big-name spots.
This may very well be the best sandwich shop in Norfolk. If you’re looking for a sub that feels more like an experience than just a meal, Sirens Subs is the place.

Unfortunately this is just a very unrealistic place to go to. I had been one time and I had my dog with me. There is no one there to physically take your order. So I couldn’t ask questions that I had about the food or ask if after I place my order, if I could wait outside for my food since my dog was with me. Once I got my food, I did promptly leave since my dog was with me. The next day that had a no animals sign out front. It kind of made me upset because there is literally no one there to take a food order or ask if they can take your order outside. I have been to tons of places in Ghent where they will do either or. Even cure coffee next door allows me to wait for the food inside and then when I get it we leave. On top of it, their hours are extremely unrealistic. Right now for winter hours, they are only open something like Monday through Friday from 11-2. The food I got was good, but not worth it to come back with all of the additional things added on top. I would rather go next door honestly.

Love this neighborhood gem! My husband and I try to fit a visit in here once a week. Food and service are great. Love being able switch a sub into a salad on occasion. Our 3 year old grandchild devoured the grilled cheese too.

We pick up lunch here almost every week. We appreciate having this adorable small business in our neighborhood. This shop is so cute and the halloumi sandwich is SO good.
This shop hosts cheese tasting classes and since we are vegetarian, they prepared a special roasted apple replacement for the meat. We really appreciated that!!
There is a great selection of chilled wines for grab and go or to enjoy on site. The shop recently added a bunch more retail items like crostini, olives/pickles, and make your own cheese kits. (We tried it and the cheese we made came our pretty good). They have sandwiches, salads, beer, cheeseboards to stay or to go. This is a great, relaxed spot to hang out and talk with friends or adorable for dates. The hours are short given the small staff but worth making the trip.

Best new place to visit. We decided to indulge in a cheese and meat platter paired with a bottle of French wine. You can create you own platter starting at $10 then add as many cheeses as you want to try which are weighted to calculate total price. Over all a good experience which is highly recommended. The meats, fig spread, and onion sauce were excellent to accompany all the cheeses, the crackers which you add at a price were stale so I wouldn’t add that in the future. The cheese selection could be a tad more organized but overall good service, good cheeses, good place to hang out. Total for two was about $70 that included a bottle of wine.

Cool location, solid selection of cheeses, and fresh food. Only reason this isn’t a 5 star is the sandwich didn’t have a good portion size of the turkey and cheese in relation to the large baguette it came on and they do not accept cash.

Ashtyn has done it all when it comes to this cute sub shop. Quality is out of this world, from ingredients to variety and flavor. It’s my favorite sub shop in the 757 and I don’t see it changing anytime soon! Woman owned and operated too!
