Avant Lard Travel – by Houston Porter
In a town with excellent food, Sirens stands out as one of the top contenders on the Port Townsend food scene.

We’ve dined here several times in the past because Sirens is one of the only places in town with a true view of the water. However, we have only ever gotten pub grub, and although excellent on its own, it was last night’s dinner that really blew our minds and moved Sirens to the top of our list of favorite restaurants in Port Townsend.

First off, this was one of the only restaurants in town that was open on Christmas night and actually had tables available without a reservation. (In general, Sirens usually keeps their kitchen open later than most places in PT. (PT can be a fairly sleepy town with little open past 8/9 p.m.))

We had never ordered from their regular menu and we’re excited to see things like lasagna, grilled salmon, sheppard’s pie, and even a PT version of cioppino.

We started with a couple of local draft beers, which we have always been able to count on when visiting Sirens. They were one of the first restaurants we found years ago that served Port Townsend Brewing Company, and not just one, but several, along with a great selection of other beers, wines, and excellent cocktails. (For those of us who dislike the hoppy beers that prevail in the NW, I highly recommend the Scotch Ale and the Nitro Stout, both from PTBC. Both are great examples of those beer styles and both are perfect with food.)

We opted for the lasagna, salmon, and cioppino and all were off the charts good, with the cioppino possibly being the best we’ve ever had.

We eat a lot of cioppino, being from the S.F. Bay Area (where it was invented) and this saffron infused version is phenomenal. The amount of seafood was seriously impressive and the flavor of the saffron stew was mind blowing.

We followed this up with the holiday special black forest chocolate cheese cake…which was truly fantastic.

To top it all off, the staff was wonderful as always, making us feel welcome on a blustery Christmas night and they had spent some serious time decorating for the holidays, and that too added a warm and welcoming touch to our dining experience.

We haven’t always stopped in to Sirens during every visit to PT in the past, but after last night’s dinner, we certainly will on all future trips. Seriously, after Finistere, this might be our new favorite restaurant in town for a high quality dinner.

Kudos to the chef, the staff, and the owners for making such a great place for both locals and visitors alike.

I went to Sirens Pub in the afternoon around lunch with my wife and had a great experience. We started with the Texas jalapeño poppers, absolutely delicious, with a bit of surprise heat. We loved them.

For mains, we ordered the cioppino and the jambalaya. Both were really good. I personally wished the jambalaya had a little more heat, but it was still flavorful and well done. The cioppino was teeming with seafood and was extremely flavorful.

Service was a little slow, but they were clearly working with a small staff, and we didn’t mind the wait at all. Overall, a great spot with solid food and a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommend stopping by.

Great atmosphere but dirty and smelly, both the building and the bar. Definitely saw a rat run across the room once. The servers are friendly. Great games collection. Food is hit or miss, as is the live music, but it’s great that the kitchen is open until 10!

Really swanky atmosphere with a full bar & good selection of craft beers. Good customer service. Food came out fast, it was super fresh & incredibly tasty. We had creme brûlée for dessert, it was delicious & the perfect ending to our meal.

Nice and chill atmosphere with good food. I had the lasagna and my wife had the avocado bacon chicken melt. Tasty food, I will have to try again.

I recommend the Texas Poppers with chipotle dipping sauce. Delicious!

It’s worth the climb up, two flights of stairs and a critical old building. Just do it. The food and drinks are delicious, the price is not too bad, the service outstanding. Try the fried oysters and one of their famous classic cocktails. Pair with a good book.

First things first the atmosphere. Everything about this gastropub is incredible. Whether you are sitting inside looking at the incredible old school interior well you’re sitting out on the terrace looking at the bay this place is phenomenal. I cannot wait to come back the price point of food and drinks were also great. We came all the way from Seattle to see this place and it did not disappoint.

On another note what I really loved was the warm welcoming we received from the servers and bartenders. I wish I would have got her name but she was so incredible to not only use, but other patrons. It got pretty busy once we got there and she was by herself but she nailed it. Bravo y’all we will definitely return.

Sirens Pub is a cute little spot on the second floor of an old, historic building in Port Townsend. There is a small terrace with a beautiful view of the water and port.
Seating is a bit limited and tight, but we were able to squeeze in for a bite. The seating outside is close together, similar to what you would find in Europe.
The tables and chairs are all bar height so you can see the views over the railing.
You walk through the pub to get to the outdoor seating. Inside the pub, it had a dark and moody vibe with an old-fashioned bar.
The food was OK and as expected for a pub. The server seemed stressed and had too many tables to attend to, in my opinion. She took a break but checked on us first. I went inside and asked the bar for a soda refill. The bar tender was nice and friendly and helpful.
I should add that the fries were delicious. I would go again for the fries.

Overall this is a solid location. There is a pool table in the back and plenty of seating. It is open seating so super convenient to just grab a table and get served in a few minutes. The service is very prompt and professional, the waitress was very kind and helpful at suggesting meals. I’m not a fan of the menu being only available on a QR code though, physical menus are much better. The burger I got was great and came with plenty of fries on the side. It was cooked well and tasted great. I would definitely recommend this location, so long as you don’t mind the QR code menus.

Bustling, Friendly, and Delicious
Sirens Pub was packed, but we were welcomed right away and found seats at the bar. The staff works seamlessly, and our bartender was both friendly and efficient. The crab cakes were some of the best I’ve ever had, and the artichoke dip with warm flatbread was fantastic. Great vibe, great food, and a cool Art Deco atmosphere. Can’t wait to return!
