We ordered the crispy tofu, egg rolls, and curry puffs as appetizers. The tofu was so bland, not a single speck of salt or seasoning and the dipping sauce for it was just as lackluster. The egg rolls and curry puffs were okay, but nothing extraordinary.
We ordered two sodas and a coffee drink but never got them until the very end of the meal when we inquired about them for the second time after initially ordering them. We had several people wait on us and the communication between them must have been very poor. When we finally got our two sodas (still no coffee) the meal was over and we were boxing up our leftovers. The sodas were completely flat, like REALLY flat. The lady was nice enough to immediately bring us two unopened cans after that but our meal was finished. They charged us for the ice coffee and when we pointed out that we never got it, they did bring us two to go. They were tasty enough and I appreciated the gesture but it would have been nice to enjoy our drinks with our meal.
Our entrees:
Beef Pad Thai – flavorful but noodles quite over cooked
Yellow Curry with tofu- fairly tasty, but not fantastic by any means, especially compared to other yellow curries I’ve had in town. Also the portion was quite smaller than expected
Pad Se Ew with tofu – delicious, my favorite dish we were served there! Especially good as leftovers
Pumpkin Curry with chicken – tasty enough but again rather mediocre
Overall if you have the chance to go elsewhere, I would recommend it. Hopefully if you do try it, you will get luckier with the service. Not sure which of their items are really winners but the dishes seemed very hit or miss.
Tonight was the second time this year we experienced disappointing food quality. We ordered two Street Noodle (Pad See Ew) dishes (all we’ve ever ordered) and both were so spicy that they were inedible. Neither of us were able to finish our food because it was just too hot. Normally, we *love* spicy food; the spicier the better. We normally order 4 or 5 out of 5 at other places and enjoy it. I can’t emphasize enough: we’re no strangers to spice.
In March of this year, we ordered this same dish with 4/5 level of spice and that time it was way too hot. We figured it was an anomaly. So tonight we ordered spice level 3/5, just to be safe, and even that was absurdly spicy. Both times we ordered from here this year, it felt like they just added capsaicin extract to our dishes.
And second, despite persevering through the spice, tonight’s food just lacked flavor. The noodles were all stuck together and not mixed well, and many had virtually no seasoning on them (see the bare white noodles in the attached photo). We love spicy Thai food, which is why we were excited about a place so close to us, but unfortunately after two big misses this year we won’t be back.
Super tasty
