We ate at Simply Sofrito Todo today and I’m still thinking about it. Honestly, it was even better than some of the food I’ve had in Puerto Rico. One bite and I was right back on our family trips visiting relatives.

My husband had the Kan Kan with rice and beans, I ordered the churrasco with chimichurri and mofongo, and my daughter happily demolished two empanadas. Everything tasted fresh, perfectly seasoned, and clearly made to order. We did wait a little over 30 minutes, but once those plates hit the table, it was absolutely worth it. You can taste the care in every bite.

Chef and owner Jasmine was amazing. She took the time to explain how the restaurant works and the love she puts into the food. I told her she made my ancestors proud with those flavors and I meant it.

I cannot wait to come back with my mom and a few friends. This place is special.

This place has the most authentic Puerto Rican food I have ever eaten in NJ! I had the sancocho that transported me to mother’s kitchen. My Husband had the festive plate, pasteles!! They don’t skimp on the meat. My son the mofo go with permir. All with full of flavor.
We ended with the flan de queso, tres leche and flan de coquito. This place DOES NOT disappoint!
Thank you Jazmine for your hospitality❤️

My husband was on a military deployment and when I got the date he was coming home it was last minute. So I contacted Sofrito to cater for a last minute welcome home party with family and they were able to take the order. I had people cancel and then added so I changed the order last minute and they still were so patient with us. They were so nice and so helpful when we went to pick up the order too. The food was so so delicious everyone was going up for seconds and thirds. We will definitely be ordering from Sofrito for future parties! Thank you so much Yasmin!!

We had the pleasure of tasting Puerto Rican cuisine, maybe the only restaurant that we have in Monmouth County. The menu includes appetizers, main dishes and great desserts. We enjoyed a savory “sancocho”, a thick soup with great vegetables and meat. We also tried shredded “pernil” pork, white rice and red beans. As dessert we culminated our experience with a “flan de coco”. Simply sofrito offers a variety of flavors, including great vegan options like a “mofongo”. The owner was very welcoming and the atmosphere was very pleasant abd colorful too.

This is the best Puerto Rican food I have eaten! The food has flavor, not spicy. We got the Beef stew. It had potatoes, carrots, beef chunks were tender and the broth not salty. We got the pork chunks. Seasoned well not dry, not over cooked with Yucca fries that were also tender and not salty. Someone else got pork monfongo. The plantain part was moist, not hard. You let them know how much garlic kick you want and they got it right! The pork was very flavorful and tender. We also got the loaded plantains. It comes with pork also with a garlic sauce that was so good. The garlic was not spicy, yet very flavorful. For drinks we got the passion fruit. It was not too sweet or thick it was refreshing. The white rice and beans hit perfect. They come separately not like other restaurants where they pour the beans on the rice. The staff was very approachable and we enjoyed the conversation with her. We didn’t have room for dessert. We will be returning I will leave a review on that next time. Price was acceptable. The decor was nice very spacious if you have many in your party she can accommodate for sure. It’s also a byob which is also a nice addition if needed. Overall if you are looking for different food to try I highly recommend you try this place. You won’t be disappointed.

Stopped in just as they opened for lunch and had the whole place to ourselves…nice and quiet with PRican music in the background. Server was friendly and happened to also be one that cooks/preps the food (ask where she’s from – it’ll surprise you!).

Food was absolutely amazing in flavor, beautiful presentation, and quantity was enough. Price was aligned with any restaurant with good food, I’m willing to pay for food that tastes great, looks good, and represents the true flavors of my home island – Puerto Rico!

Totally satisfied with appetizer and also recommend the fruit juices – parcha and tamarindo. Will definitely go back and the only wish is that we lived closer – stopped on our way to the beach, from 1 hour away.

Vale la pena y el sazón en el SOFRITO está “brutal”! (that’s Puerto Rican for “amazing”)

The owner is super sweet and the place is clean, however I was dissapointed with the food. They just need flavor. I wish them well though. I hate to leave these types of reviews but I also dont want to mislead my followers. The sancocho is more like a fricase with one piece of meat and one piece of chicken. Again lacked in flavor. The alcapurrias were hard and not flavored. The bacalaitos also lacked flavor. The empanadas str8 up tasted like sofrito. I think they have a great opportunity to do well and I wish them well.

There’s something about the taste of what seems like a home cooked meal, the owner knowing your order (and allergies) after only 2 visits over the past year, and the coziness of a restaurant that will keep you coming back. I will continue driving the 40 minutes to taste the decadent food and support the friendly and personable owner. She was also nothing short of spectacular after we had a party of 20.

10/10 will ALWAYS recommend Simply Sofrito as the place to go.
