We were in Wayland test driving a car and the salesman suggested Simply Celia’s. I’m SO glad he did.
The atmosphere was very comfortable. The sunshine was pouring in and they had fresh flowers on the tables. The server was very helpful and friendly.
I ordered the special: Apple Crumble Baked French Toast. It was amazing! So good. I could only eat half of it. My husband ordered the Arvind special and he really liked it.
I’m so glad we stopped in. If we are ever in the area again, we will stop by.
I highly recommend!

Very yummy food! Watch out those pancakes are the biggest I’ve ever seen! (yummy though)
This isn’t your typical breakfast food options place. Eggs were not on this menu.
Service was good and the place was clean. 🙂

Amazing gluten free biscuits and gravy. Not advertised as such because it isn’t a certified gluten free kitchen, but made with gluten free ingredients. They call it LG for less gluten. Highly recommend if this is a preference not a life threatening allergy!

Freaking delicious!!! This is not a typical breakfast place. No eggs, no potatoes. They have bacon and stuff!!!
But if you are looking for incredible French toast, giant pancakes with crisp edges, pasty’s that are huge and full, biscuits and gravy are so good, crispy outside warm and soft inside with a delicious sausage gravy, amazing quiche, you have to try Simply Celia’s. Also, try the baked French toast specials, Incredible. You can’t go wrong! Oh! And they have delicious coffee and great service!
One of my favorite breakfast spots ever!

Simply Celia’s was simply underwhelming, if not outright disappointing. We were put on hold when calling in our order for over 5 minutes, and were about to hang up when it seemed they finally remembered they had put us on hold. The wait time was longer than expected (45 minutes) although that isn’t a big deal at all. As far as the food goes, underwhelming is the best way I can describe it. The biscuits and gravy both had very little flavor, and the consistency was lacking as well. I also tried a bite of the breakfast pasty, which did little more to impress. The filings were sub-par, but I will say the shell itself was rather flaky and nice, on par with or better than that of many of the traditional pastys I’ve had in the U.P. I do not think we will be repeat customers of this buisness.

The food was great, the poppyseed salad is just how my grandma makes it. Definitely coming back to this cozy little spot.

This place is filled with warmth and charm and is a Wayland treasure. Celia is a sweetheart and puts her all in to creating and preparing a menu that will please every person that walks in. I, for one, am a southern girl who is extremely picky about my biscuits and gravy. Celia’s biscuits and gravy have a slight Cajun twist (but not spicy) that amplifies the gravy while not detracting from a traditional biscuits and gravy taste profile. Also, you should get the half order unless you’re really hungry! In addition to biscuits and gravy, Celia’s has giant pancakes (you’ll probably want to share. I warned you!), baked french toast specials, pasty specials, and traditional breakfast food. Check this place out!

This place hands down has the best pancakes that I’ve ever had. I love the fact that there are no TVs in here and it helps create a more simple environment where you sit around a table with family and friends. There’s a lot of love that goes into the food here; you can taste it. Celia came out and greeted us and asked us how the food was. She seems like a kind and very down to earth woman. I love this restaurant as well as the amazing, friendly staff!

The food was really really good. We loved the gluten free options and appreciate them very much. Unfortunately after 30 minutes of waiting for our food my son had to go back to work without eating. My daughter and I were able to continue to wait and our food came out shortly after that. Again it was delicious and fresh, using wonderful ingredients..but there was ONE waitress and a packed restaurant. It is a breakfast and lunch place only. We came at noon on a Tuesday and the waitress and kitchen staff were unprepared for their restaurant to have customers? There should have been 4 waitresses and lots more kitchen help. It should not take 40 minutes to get 3 sandwiches and a bowl of soup. Our drinks were never once refilled until we were finally able to flag down our waitress so my daughter could get more water. My ice tea remained empty and was never offered a refill ( I didn’t want to bother to ask because with one waitress I knew how long it would take). Finally, we were sitting there done eating for over 20 minutes…waitress never brought the bill. I finally had to go up to the counter just to get her to stop ignoring us ( that was the second time during that meal that I had to get up and wait at the counter for my waitress to assist me).
Even though the food was good, we likely wouldn’t go back due to the service and wait time. (Service was friendly, just non-existent).

Me and my dad make it a point to come here whenever we can! It’s slower but worth it. The bowls of coffee, fresh breakfast and great atmosphere is incredible. The food is always great and it’s the best way to start the day. I’ve lived in Wayland my entire life and I’m so happy to have this hidden gem right in town!! Definitely worth a visit
