I also ordered a Korean meat banh mi and it was quite a disappointing. It was very bland, and the meat was tough and chewy. It also was lacking of any flavor.
The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, clean, and everything is reasonably priced, making it a great spot if you’re looking for something tasty without breaking the bank. Definitely worth the time and money, we’ll be back as always.
My friend and I popped in here on a Friday night. I was very impressed with the variety on the menu. Soups, dumplings, rice bowls, bahn mi. There was a lot to choose from. My friend chose a chicken rice bowl and she loved hers. I opted for the coconut soup and half Korean Beef Bahn mi. The prices were very reasonable at around $13-$14 for each combo. I loved the flavours in my soup – it was a Thai Coconut shrimp. The small bowl was actually quite filling. It had 3 large shrimp in it and lots of noodles and vegetables. My small critique was that I wish it was a little hotter temperature wise but I still enjoyed it a lot. The Bahn mi was okay. There were aspects that I really liked. The bread was so good. The meat just a little too chewy for me and I didn’t taste much of the gochuchang. It wasn’t my favourite. I didn’t complain because really, it could be just my preference. I would definitely try this combo again and maybe try a different meat in the sandwich. But there are also tons of other things on the menu I want to try.
We tried the ginger mint lemonade and we both liked it.
UPDATE: Have since been back a few more times. And tried something different every time. I love the dumplings with the gochujang on them. I’ve had the Asian pulled pork and it was good. My favourite so far has been the Korean Chicken noodle bowl. I love all the fresh ingredients in the bowl. I do like to spice things up bit. So I appreciate that there are condiments at the table, hoisin and sriracha.
The service was really good. It was obvious the owner has a lot of pride in the place and was very hands on. It’s clear he wants people to have a very good experience. I appreciated that. He was also very good to answer questions and provide recommendations. Update: this place has lots of regulars which is a credit to them. The owner takes pride in knowing his customers and remembers us when we visit now.
The atmosphere was fine. Bright and colourful. About 7 tables I think. The only critique I have here was that the cars park right next to the building and when they pull in or out you are blinded by headlights if you are facing the door. Especially if they decide to sit in their cars for a minute before pulling away. They could probably use some blinds or something here to filter the lights.
I will definitely come back here. There was so much on the menu I still want to try. I could slurp down some of that soup right now!
I’d still go back to try the other dishes, they had an Indian Viet fusion dish on special that sounded cool.
