I recently ate at Simon’s Restaurant at the Homestead Crater resort area in Midway, and it was a great experience. The setting is warm and welcoming, with rustic mountain charm and big windows that let you look out over the property. It’s a comfortable place whether you’re on a getaway or just dropping in for dinner.
The staff were kind and attentive, and the service felt personal without being overbearing. Even when the restaurant was busy, we didn’t feel ignored. They made us feel relaxed and taken care of from the moment we walked in.
The food was excellent. I had a burger that was seasoned really well and cooked just right. The portion size was generous, and everything tasted fresh. My partner ordered one of the specials, and we were both happy with our meals. Prices are in the mid-range, but for the quality and location, it felt completely worth it.
We sat near the fireplace, but there’s also a nice patio area that looked like it would be perfect in warmer weather. The overall vibe is casual but elegant, and it’s a place you could bring anyone to for a good meal.
If you’re staying at the Homestead or just visiting the crater, Simon’s is a solid dining option. Great service, good food, and a relaxing atmosphere. I would absolutely eat there again.

We went for dinner and returned the next day for breakfast. Both times our food was very flavorful and delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly and the chimichurri sauce was one of the bests. We ordered the Brussels for an appetizer and the different textures, flavors and colors were a delicious experience. The service was exceptional and the hostess is extremely nice. We had a great birthday celebration.

Ate here because we stayed in the hotel. Service was a bit slow. Took a bit for our drinks and to order our food as well to cash out, though the waitstaff was very friendly and kind.
We got the dark chocolate caramel mousse desert with beet appetizer to start then ate the burger.
Food was very tasty!
Overall experience here was good. I’d come back for convenience but not as first choice.

Last trip I felt they were slow , but I’m realizing that I was expecting in and out hustle service and the ambience and set up is to relax, more fine dining flow.

This was the most delicious dinner we have had in a long time. The butternut squash ravioli I will be dreaming of!!!! MaCarry gave us the most amazing service. Definitely request her as your server if you can. She goes above and beyond and had great recommendations. Crème brûlée not pictured is a must! We will definitely be back next time we’re in town!

The food was really good with great portions. I had the sirloin steak, mashed potatoes with broccolini; which was yummy. The steak was cooked as I expected (medium) with great flavor. The husband had the steak frittas which was cooked as expected (medium-well) along with fries and a salsa verde sauce. The husband said it was really good. One of our kids ordered the penne pasta with chicken and raved how good it was, and the other kid got fries which were really yummy. The service was good and waiter was very attentive. The only thing is the prices were a bit high but was to be expected where we ate inside the resort. The dinning area was very small; however, not many people were there when we were dinning; about 6:00 on a Saturday night.

Absolutely love this place! Breakfast and dinner were top notch. We enjoyed the flatbread, wings (extra crispy), roasted red pepper hummus and the best Pork Schnitzel I’ve ever had! The cocktails were just as delicious! Get the Old Fashioned!

Makari has been our primary waitress for our stay! And WOW she’s been incredible. Me and my wife have been staying at the homestead for our honeymoon. And the Simons restaurant has treated us so well! Staff has been wonderful especially Makari and Dom as well as the desert chef have been amazing. We even got an incredible chocolate mousse for free. Not to mention when we ordered an apple fritter last night they gave us an extra big scoop of ice cream!
Hospitality like this is hard to come by. The food is excellent and the desserts are made with a lot of love. Even if you don’t stay at the homestead stop by the Crater and get some good food at Simon’s!

Five star. Without reserve. Everything for our brunch was outstanding. Triple threat of food, location, and service. Waffles with whipped creme and strawberry were delightful. Homestead breakfast perfectly prepared with cheddar and chive biscuit and delicious bacon and well season home fries. Perfect eggs Benedict with smooth holindaise sauce. Sweet potatoe fries with flavorful sauce was a standout. Scones with honey butter were a perfect treat. Historic, well done interior. Gorgeous views. Nice antique. Five star service.
