We had a delicious dinner at Sima Japanese restaurant in Gibsons, BC. We ordered Bento Box B, which came with fresh tuna roll, crispy veggies and prawn tempura, and delicious miso soup. Everything was well prepared and flavourful. Paired with hot Japanese tea, it was a perfect meal. We’ll definitely go back.

I this was my goto Japanese but lately the rolls fall apart and now this, not just a bruised avocado but rotting. I’ve lost faith in this restaurant after today’s rotten avocado in my roll. Sushi should start with FRESH ingredients and a skilled hand that takes pride in their work. This is lacking here as of late. I shouldn’t have to disect the pieces that dont fall apart from uneven rolling. Should I have to inspect every roll for rotton avocado on a $100 order of sushi? Unacceptable. Finding some rotten ingredients casts the whole of all the ingredients freshness into question. The only reason I didn’t drop from 4 to 1 star instead of 2 is because it has been decent in the past.

I really enjoy taking my son out for sushi and we frequently go to the Sechelt location and the food is amazing! The sushi is still good here in gibsons but I find their miso soup to be more like hot water with very little flavour, they are the same restaurant but the miso needs more miso paste or whatever they use to actually have some flavour! Would be nice if they seen this cause I’ve come a few times every time I give the benefit of the doubt that maybe they just forgot or it was an accident but I find it’s like drinking hot water with tofu.. and very little at that.

If it’s 8pm and you’re open till 830p and your doors open, you are open. Rude woman says closing in 20 minutes. Good for you. Sign says 830, not 820.

Food comes a little slower, but it’s worth the wait. The Sashimi is well cut and great and the rolls are well made, I recommend the yummy roll.
