This restaurant is one of my favorites for almost everything and the atmosphere is great.
However today I’m here to do a review of the Friday night fish dinner, to determine what the best one is for the area.
I ordered two of the Fish Fry Dinners to go…the customer service was excellent it always is.
The Fish Fry was overall not incredible; the fish was much smaller than most in the area, and the breading was very thick and harder than I prefer…it didn’t come with any lemons which I was very disappointed to find.
The fries at Silverbird are excellent; they have a nice light crunchy coating on them which is exactly how I like my fries.
The Coleslaw was the best of the ones I’ve tried so far; the portion was very generous as compared to the 4oz cups many places are doing now, it was chopped a bit coarse not chipped up fine, again exactly how I like it, and the dressing on it was perfection, and just the right amount not too dry, not too sloppy.
We requested malt vinegar on the side for the fries, and they gave us one small 2oz container of it which was sufficient.
The price was average for this area; I personally feel that a half sized peice of fish and some cabbage and fries which are both incredibly cheap items, it’s way over priced for that.
But again; its basically the same as the other restaurants I’ve reviewed so far.
Overall; I don’t recommend it. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t anything special and there are better places for it within a few minutes drive.

Food: The pizza was unbelievably bad. It tasted like frozen pizza from the supermarket. The poutine was good (they don’t use real cheese curd but still tasty).
Service: No complaints. Friendly but not overbearing.
Atmosphere: Very run down inside. Restrooms are very dark. No prominent signage on outside of building.
Overall I’m not too upset because it was pretty cheap but I wouldn’t come back or recommend.

Excellent wood fired pizza! Our server Hailey was so sweet and attentive. Casual atmosphere complete with old fashioned pinball machines. Local beer on tap, local wines and full bar. One person in our party had the salmon dinner with potatoes, broccoli and side of chili. Huge portion and excellent food. Highly recommend for a relaxed casual evening with great food.

If you visit Penn Yan you must try the smoked wings. My husband and I have date night once a week and often choose this restaurant because they offer wing night. Wings are delicious, the service is great, and prices reasonable.

This review is dedicated to Hailey at Silverbird Woodfired. She waited our table and was absolutely so kind. She was attentive and friendly. I truly believe the staff interaction is one of the most fundamental parts of restaurant and Hailey absolutely hit the nail on the head. Staying in the area stop for a bite to eat. Parking was on Street and they were pretty busy when we arrived. I had a tuna melt and sweet potato fries which were excellent my fiance had garlic wings which I tried and they were delicious. Was so hungry forgot to take pictures at the beginning ♀️
