Silver Star Bakery | Providence RI – Facebook

We started as a mall town bakery making small batch delicacies brought with us from the old country. Founded by Portuguese immigrants over 80 years ago.

I’ve had everything from breakfast bakes to dessert bakes here and I have never been disappointed. Their coffee is strong, their bakes are perfectly flavorful, and their customer service is akin to a friendly neighbor. Happy to have this place near me. Don’t miss it!!

While in Fox Point Providence, we stopped into Silver Star Bakery. We got some Portuguese sweetbread, RI pizza straps, & a popseco com quiejo st jorge. The breads were super fluffy, & the pizza strips were tasty.

One of best donuts I have had many years! We were there bright and early and passed through Providence on our way to MA. We were stunned to see it was a real bakery with higher standards (there are fewer around than one would think these days). The donuts were fresh out of the oven and we also had a cinnamon roll. Both were moist, delicious and fresh. Highly recommend especially early in morning!

Unfortunately, some of the worst espresso I’ve ever had. They really need to clean their machine or learn how to pull it. Tasted dirty. Papa secos are good. Pastel de nata was not. Too cold.

We came here upon a visit because it had high ratings. This place did not disappoint. The woman who helped us was very friendly and nice. I tried to speak a tiny bit of Portuguese. She was able to set me up with authentic desserts for my aunt who’s from Portugal. They were delicious. We all enjoyed them. Very happy we stopped here to try out their yummy treats.

Stumbled upon this place and I am such a fan!!! Everything looks so good it’s hard to choose just one thing to get. This bakery is definitely no frills and great quality and value. The latte they have is a galao, which is the Portuguese latte and is stronger so be careful. I’ve tried the elephant ears, cinnamon twist, blueberry turn over, egg tart, and all of them are phenomenal. Slowly I will try all of them.

A cute small bakery.
Fast service.
Seems to be newly redone.
Good pastéis.
Even better bakery pizza.
People tend to just pop in for an order to go but there are a few nice bar seats facing the outdoors
Seems to only be one woman working here but she’s quick and doesn’t stop working.

I went recently for an iced coffee and a snack. I asked for iced coffee, pizza strip, and lemon bar. The pizza strip was good, not great. The iced coffee I had to throw out, it was very bad. And the lemon bar? Well instead of getting what I asked for, I was given an almond ball… I tried to eat the almond ball and did not enjoy it at all. Waste of money. The person working barely even spoke to me.

Everytime I visit Providence I make it a point to visit this place. They never disappoint. Excellent breads & pastries. Good coffee, good hot chocolate. Fine sandwiches & cheese/sausage. Specializes in Portuguese/European breads & pastries. Cajetada de Coco (coconut) & almond desserts are superb. A tad pricey, but the quality amazes. And in an easy-walkable neighborhood. The employees as quick & efficient. One of the older ladies doesn’t smile much. I have a sort of game going with her. Each time I see her I try my best to make her smile & she tries her darndest not to. So far a draw.
