This is an authentic Sichuan restaurant. The décor highlights a touch of French romance, giving the place a warm and cozy atmosphere rather than the greasy feel often associated with traditional Chinese eateries.

We visited on a Monday noon, and to my surprise, the restaurant was already full of diners. Since it’s a Sichuan place, we ordered several classic Sichuan dishes:

Cold Beef and Beef Tripe in Chili Sauce (Fuqi Feipian) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ $16.95

A true Sichuan classic — spicy, numbing, savory, and absolutely appetizing.

Boiled Fish Fillet in Chili Oil ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ $21.95

Perfectly balanced in spice and flavor. The fish was tender and smooth, served in a generous portion — very satisfying.

Stir-fried Smoked Pork with Garlic Sprouts
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ $18.95

The cured pork is house-made — fatty but not greasy, with that distinctive smoky aroma. A great dish for those who enjoy rich flavors.

Mapo Tofu ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ $13.95
Aromatic and delicious, with just the right amount of numbing spice. It goes perfectly with steamed rice — simply irresistible.

Braised Pork Belly with Preserved Mustard Greens ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ $21.95

The preserved greens weren’t overly salty, and their unique flavor paired beautifully with the soft, tender pork belly. A comforting, flavorful dish that goes wonderfully with rice.

Stir-fried Pea Shoots with Garlic ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ $14.95

Cooked just right — tender and fresh, with a nice balance of garlic flavor.

Pumpkin Cakes ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️$10.95

They’re house-made with a high amount of real pumpkin. Crispy on the outside and soft and chewy inside, lightly sweet — very comforting and pleasant to eat.

Overall, it was a wonderful meal — authentic flavors, generous portions, and a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Went here for the first time and was wowed by the food and authenticity. Service was top notch and the food was true Sichuan – not for those who can’t take the heat!

Follow-up: second visit to the venue, and service was outstanding. Portion size is huge. Most importantly, the food was as delicious as the first time.

Silver Spring Sichuan Bistro is an absolute gem for anyone who loves bold, authentic Chinese flavors. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with friendly service and an inviting atmosphere that feels both lively and comfortable.

The food is the real star here. Every dish bursts with the rich, spicy, aromatic flavors Sichuan cuisine is known for. The kung pao chicken is perfectly balanced with heat and savoriness, and the beef with eggplant was flavorful, and addictive.

If you’re looking for authentic Sichuan food in Silver Spring, this bistro deserves to be at the top of your list. A flavorful, satisfying experience every time!

Silver Spring Sichuan Bistro is an absolute gem. I came with a group of 16, and from the moment the food hit the table, we knew we were in for something special. We all shared the dan dan noodles, fried whole fish w/ sweet & sour sauce, spicy wontons, beef w/ beef tripe in chili sauce, soup dumplings. Every dish was packed with bold, authentic Sichuan flavors—rich, spicy, and perfectly balanced. The food was genuinely deliciously unforgettable, the kind that keeps everyone talking long after the meal is over. Portions were great for sharing, the atmosphere was lively, and the experience felt both comforting and exciting. If you’re looking for a place to enjoy incredible food with friends/ family, this spot is a must!

Went for dinner on a quiet Monday evening – four guests. The place is welcoming, with a nice and relaxed ambiance, and attentive service. The food was absolutely superb, especially the swordfish stew dish, the eggplants, and the cooked cabbage. Portions are large and plentiful. They come with rice. Watch out for the spicy hot; it is really hot. We will certainly go there again.

I ordered General Tsos chicken lunch and it is on the American Chinese menu. It was bad. I order that dish everywhere. It seemed way too sweet, even though ordered spicy and lacked broccoli. They were out of crispy noodles for the soup. I returned the lunch for a future credit so didn’t try the soup. It seemed ( tasted and looked)like the frozen stuff I get at Giant. The night before we ordered Eggplant and beef, while good, lacked much beef and mostly eggplant. Another reviewer pictured theirs and it showed equal beef and eggplant. Also ordered vegetable lo mein which was good, but only vegetables for flavor, but not to really vegetables to eat. Again rice was not included and no tea was included or offered. The staff seemed nice, but for me doesn’t make up for the inconsistent food, lack of soup crispy noodles ( therefore no mustard or duck sauce served either, extra charge for white rice, no offering of tea ( I naively thought they would bring tea, Ipresume that’s extra but should be offered), and no mention of dessert.( But complimentary fortune cookies by register). Come on guys, let’s step it up if you want to survive.

I went to this wonderful new Chinese restaurant with two other family members. We enjoyed our dinner.

The decor is simple, modern, and attractive. The menu is a book with pictures on every page. It is divided into authentic Sichuan dishes and American Chinese dishes. Because one member of our party can’t eat spicy food, we stuck with the American Chinese items.

We ordered spring rolls for appetizer. They were piping hot and very good. They don’t have egg rolls.

Next, we ordered three main dishes:

•Pork with Mixed Chinese Vegetables
The pork was thinly sliced and very tender. The vegetables were crisp and fresh. The sauce was delicious.

•Shrimp with Broccoli
Nice jumbo shrimps and crisp, bright green broccoli in a tasty sauce.

•House Lo Mein
Nothing unusual but very good.

We weren’t adventurous. Maybe next time we’ll order some authentic dishes.

The service couldn’t be better. We plan on coming back again. Meanwhile, we highly recommend this restaurant.

We had eaten about half a dozen times at this restaurant’s sister establishment in Ellicott City (Tea Horse Sichuan Bistro), and have always loved it. The food there was wonderful, with both “American-Chinese” standards and an extensive and much more authentic menu for those who know Sichuan cuisine (and can enjoy the abundant peppers which are a big part of the cuisine’s appeal).

We were therefore delighted to learn that the same owners have recently opened Silver Spring Sichuan Bistro in Leisure World Plaza, just a few minutes from our home. We tried it for lunch today, and the food was just delicious! We had one of the combination lunches, which are $14 or $15, and come with an entree, rice, soup or a spring roll. The spice level can be adjusted entirely as one desires. The full menu was also available, with dozens of Sichuan appetizers, soups, and main dishes, which while perhaps less familiar to American palates, look most appealing and we’re eager to try them.

The service was quite attentive and friendly, and the manager was engaging and professional. The decor was attractive and tasteful, certainly a place one could go with another couple or a group. Everyone seemed eager to ensure that we enjoyed our meal, and we did.

We look forward to returning to Silver Spring Sichuan Bistro very soon, and broadening our selections beyond the chicken with garlic sauce and shredded chicken with string beans (though these were delicious). The egg drop soup and hot & sour soup were very flavorful, and not overwhelmed by excess corn starch as one sometimes experiences.

I would urge you to give this new restaurant a try! Although just our first visit, we thought it was compared very well with the larger establishment in Ellicott City, and should set the new standard for Sichuan cuisine for our part of Montgomery County. We feel fortunate to have this new restaurant in our community.

Went here thinking it’d be a standard American Chinese food restaurant, it’s not exactly. You’ll recognize plenty of the menu options but the preparation is on a different level. Everything we ordered was incredible and we’re excited to go back with friends to try more of their menu.

The prices reflect the quality of the food and generous portions, no complaints there. As others have said you have to order rice separately from the dishes you get, it doesn’t come automatically – wasn’t a big deal for us once we realized that.

Food came out in a timely manner and the staff were very friendly as well, all adds up to a great dining experience. Strong recommendation.
