Extremely disappointed with my order on Saturday night. I have been ordering here for a couple of years now every now and then. It’s never been amazing but I’ve never been this disgusted with my sesame chicken that I couldn’t even eat my dinner. I could barely bite or cut into the chicken. It was rubbery and chewy with little to no actual chicken… just gross breading. The entire order of chicken was clumped and stuck together. No steamed broccoli, just soggy hard broccoli thrown at the bottom. Sadly I’ll be finding another Chinese restaurant in the Elgin area because the quality here has gone down drastically.

Amazing food, even the day after it tastes amazing. I have never had a bad experience here and am always happy with the portions. The shrimp fried rice is the best I’ve ever had(please never change it), the honey walnut shrimp is perfect, and the Mongolian beef tastes great every time. I will definitely be returning when I am out that way whenever possible, I know I will not be disappointed.(ps, the wait time was only longer simply because we ordered on christmas eve)

We have been going to Silver Lake Chinese Restaurant for years. I don’t know what happened but there egg rolls are horrible. They used to be delicious. I always compared them to the ones we make. Their sweet and sour apricot sauce was delicious also. Now it’s thin and flavorless. We were in on Saturday the 7 th. Not busy at all. So disappointed !!!!

The Silver Lake in Elgin is wonderful. I dine in and do carry out several times a year and the food is consistently wonderful. Their egg rolls are my all time favorite.
Food is always ready fast, and everyone there is super friendly and treat you like family. Leon is our favorite and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone there is happy and taken care of.

I’ve eaten several times here and the food is average, at best. Sometimes it’s too salty. The atmosphere is quiet. The service is friendly and quick. However, once you’re served, it seems they forget about you until you’re done.

The food was pretty good, and the egg rolls were exceptionally well. Would definitely recommend coming for lunch when it’s less busy. Decor was quite good, too. The tables were well cleaned. The wait staff is quick to take orders, keep drinks full, and remove empty plates in a timely fashion. Overall experience definitely deserves five stars

Always read reviews before heading out don’t forget to do it saves time and money…Silver Lake Chinese food is excellent! Our server was energetic, full of smiles, was very helpful and honest , we ordered the mussels in garlic sauce, Spicy Sesame Chicken, Spicy combination rice, and of course PINEAPPLE SAKE WARMED!
