My husband and I came in there Tuesday night for dinner. We shared the pulled pork nachos. They were absolutely excellent! Some of the best that we’ve had. Our server was great also! She was very attentive and our food came out quickly.

We just stopped here on our way to the U.P for emergent potty breaks. We decided to have dinner after being met with such a welcoming staff. The service was wonderful and food was amazing. We got two of the specials for taco tuesday. My dad got the wet chicken burrito (amazing and could only finish half of it), I got the taco platter (one chicken, one beef–both delicious), and the margarita (short glass, strong and tasty). We also got a 127 south cocktail which was fruity and not very potent if you’re looking for a lighter drink. My partner had the silver dollar burger, which was really good. One of my kids dropped their burger, which they quickly replaced for us. Such an awesome place! Great staff! Take the time to stop in.

“Smash burger”? More Like Crash and Burn!
Oh, where to begin with this culinary catastrophe at Silver Dollar, where the menu promises fast-casual bliss. A “smash burger” Spoiler alert: If smashing involves a pre cooked and air dried hockey puck of meat, then congrats, they’ve nailed it.
I arrived expecting that glorious, caramelized crust – you know, the kind that makes your arteries whisper sweet nothings before plotting your demise. Instead, I got a pale, ghostly puck that looked like it’d been airlifted from a vampire’s tea party. No sear, no sizzle, just a sad, anemic disc staring back at me like it had given up on life midway through cooking school.
And the texture? Dry doesn’t even cover it. This thing was drier than a nun’s sense of humor or that one uncle at Thanksgiving who lectures you on crypto while passing the kale. And no, drowning it in BBQ sauce didn’t help. I swear, it was the worst burger I have had in a looooooong time.
The bun? Straight from the day-old bag of solidarity, as if it too was mourning the missed opportunity for flavor.
But let’s talk brass tacks – or in this case, brass knuckles to my wallet. $22 for this beige betrayal? That’s not a burger; that’s highway robbery with a side of fries that tasted like they were deep-fried in regret. I could’ve bought a real smash burger from a food truck, fed a family of four, and still had change for therapy.
Pro tip to the chef: If you’re charging big-boy prices for a patty that belongs in a museum of failed experiments, at least make it photogenic. This one? It make my camera weep.
Skip this place unless you hate joy and love overpaying for disappointment. 1 star only because zero isn’t an option, and hey, the napkins were free, except they didn’t give us any, but lucky for us the neighboring tables shared.

We eat here a couple times a month. Pizza is always great, drinks are cold…but the real gem is the service! Obviously well managed. The servers have always been kind and attentive. Wether busy or slow every staff member is always doing something. Every other menu item we and our friends have tried has been great. The French onion soup is 10/10!

I have been going to Silver Dollar for the last seven years with my Service dog. We never had an issue until today. The co owner Dan and the waitress refused to serve us. Told us that our dog was not allowed in the restaurant and told us to get out and was very nasty. I eat their two or three times a week and never had an issue. I will not be back!!!!!

I really wanted to love this place, it’s in a great location and has plenty of parking, and the atmosphere inside was hopping. Our server was super nice, but did forget to put one of our apps in and I had to remind her. We ordered the pulled pork nachos, a personal pizza, mozzarella sticks and a grilled cheese/fries for our daughter. The pulled pork nachos were huge, but not good. The pork is not seasoned, and there was waaayyyy too much pork on the nachos. Not enough other toppings, barely any bbq sauce and just not good flavor. Both the husband and I agreed. The pizza is not made with only mozzarella cheese, it tastes like there is provolone mixed in, and I didn’t care for that AT ALL. I took two bites and couldn’t eat the rest. The mozzarella sticks were the only good thing about the meal. My daughter barely ate hers, but that’s not surprising. All in all, won’t be coming back to give it another chance, since all the meals were not to our liking.

Only bar near the lake really. Always seem to be busy during peak eating hous, especially in the summer. Staff is typically friendly and seems well managed. We have had mostly really good food and drinks come as quick as you would expect. Great spot for all seasons, we will always be back.

We took our disabled family member there during the summer. It was in the 90s outside and the hostess told us to go back outside for an hour. Once we came in after an hour in the sun, it took 45 more minutes to get our pop order taken. Then another hour to get our food. 3 hours from when we arrived and our diabetic and blind family member was quite sick by then. The bartender ( female) and waitress slammed our drinks and food on the table and were hostile until we paid and left. We have been at Higgins since the 1960s and never been treated like that.

A Higgins lake classic. If you come to Higgins you gotta pay a visit to the dollar. Food is hit or miss here. Last visit was decent. Pizza and wings are good choices. Fish, you’re going to have to take a chance

Not smash burgers, need to be way thinner. A smash burger is not just burnt. Coleslaw tasted musty, pretzel sticks were burnt.
Not worth the $$$ unless you are drunk.
And no bowl chili us worth 8.99 omg
