This place is all of the best of Southern hospitality and food. The food was amazing. My partner in crime is totally in love with it. I loved the trains running all over the building. I need to bring back my family.

“Atmosphere” is lower due to tables and chairs in bad need of repair and upgrading. Service was excellent.

Food was good. The only thing that kept it from being 5 stars was that the request for the catfish to be cooked extra crispy didn’t get honored (the catfish was still good). Also, the hush puppies were a bit bland.

The vegetables (butter beans and blackeyed peas) were cooked and tasted Southern good – well done, NOT mushy, with just enough salt. I asked which cobbler had the most fruit (some have pitifully few pieces and are mostly pie crust). I was steered toward the blackberry and it was delicious with vanilla ice cream, having quite a few berries and just the right amount of crust.

I enjoyed a delicious pot roast, gravy and mashed potatoes, fried okra. Great food and service, loved the nostalgia, great location. There’s a reason it was crowded on a Tuesday after Christmas. Their Blackberry cobbler and ice cream was amazing!! Can’t wait to go back.

20 minutes after opening on a Friday the place was already full with 6 parties in front of us. We waited about 15 minutes until being seated. I read the reviews before coming. I get it and agree that the food nothing stellar. Don’t get me wrong. It was good. But nothing “wow” about it. I think the reason to go here is for the experience of the town square. We started by walking around the square and visiting the trains which you can go inside. And the charm of the restaurant just adds to the overall experience which is exactly what we wanted. Servers were friendly. Blue plate specials were good. And the pies/cobbler were what we would have expected from a place like this. My daughter enjoyed the corn dogs and ate half my father’s corn beef sandwich which my dad said was pretty good. The cherry limeade was a bit sour for my daughter but she liked it. Ice tea we made 1/2 sweet and 1/2 unsweetened which fit the palate of my wife. I had the Lucy plate which was pretty good. The corn bread plain is a bit dry but smothered it tasted pretty good. The pot roast, turnip greens and congealed salad made from mandarin oranges and pineapples was pretty good too. Again not stellar. But good and spot on for the ambiance which includes a toy train in the room next door and old town feel. Chocolate chess pie was really good, and blackberry cobbler I ate alone because everyone was full (a solid desert). I thought the prices were pretty decent given the area where I imagine rent is expensive.

Such a cute place. The food is good, it could use more seasoning. The ice cream floats are delicious. The staff is very professional and friendly. This place is always busy. We would recommend coming here

OFF THE BEATEN PATH: while venturing around the old downtown section we had seen this location previously and decided to make a trip back to try it out; it was worth the ride back out to the restaurant and the chance to take in a little history while strolling through the town square (it has a historical marker detailing the historical significance of the town square). The restaurant reminds you of the old small town appeal but with the proficiency of today’s environment without losing it’s charm. The Southern small town charm leaves you with a desire to linger and take in the buildings decorative reminders of the town’s beginnings. The staff is engaging and had great feedback on the menu choices and made great recommendations during this visit. As a fish lover, they were able to satisfy my craving for my #1 fave – Catfish! It was nicely breaded and cooked to perfection. The baby butter beans just melted in my mouth and the turnip greens were a delight. A great home style cooked meal.

Neat little place! Very cozy atmosphere! There is even a model train and whole set up that goes around near the ceiling above everyone!

Food was good and filling, service was fast and friendly.

We showed up at around 10:30AM looking for breakfast, but they do not service breakfast! That aside the lunch we had was great!

All staff was correctly wearing a mask too.

Wonderful place to eat. So envious of those who work near here and eat here regularly. I would be so fat. With all the superb sandwiches and salad, they make an awesome hamburger dressed just the way you want it. My partner had the A Robbie Salad. We shared the Ice Cream Sunday and I’m glad I saved room for it. Exception service by Katheryn.

We were passing through and this place looked and sounded like a good place to stop. The food was great, we (especially my toddler) loved the train running along the ceiling, the place was clean, and the staff friendly. I was expecting a wait to get in but we were seated quickly. Another plus with a toddler in tow.
