Run-A-Way Bill
Bernalillo, New Mexico –

pre-1937 Route 66 bar “Silva’s Saloon” (RAB bar 547 of 2017) with bartender Denise is a “Run-A-Way Bill” Favorite.

Since 1933, “Silva’s Saloon” has been a 1-family owned business. “Silva’s Saloon” customers drank beers & watched the historic Route 66 road created right in front of the bar.

Today the walls are covered with 100’s of memories, including the hats of customers who have “moved to the cemetery” over the years.

Today 85 year young Felix & his daughter keep the bar running.

Several movies have used “Silva’s Saloon” for their bar scenes.

“Run-A-Way Bill” was here!

I am new to town and dropped by Silva’s on Friday. What an awesome place! The bartender told me all about the history of the bar. It’s like stepping into a museum that serves ice cold beer. Definitely worth checking out. You won’t be sorry.

This place is a piece of New Mexico history and culture. Half saloon, half time machine, Silva’s Saloon claims a number of accolades, including owning the first commercial liquor licensed issued in NM, and being the set for multiple film productions. IMO, this is the last place to have that authentic Route 66 desert biker bar atmosphere. A MUST VISIT. Go afternoons on weekdays.

Silva’s is like walking back in time a bar like no other! So many things to look at, so many stories about the past! It’s a must see place! Still ran by the family. Felix Silva and son Felix Silva Jr. His Dad Felix Silva opened every day until his death. And if your hungry you can walk next door to the Range cafe. Wonderful food and who knows you might see someone famous!

Worth a stop! Take some time if visiting to enjoy beer or mixed drinks and look at everything in the Bar. It’s practically a museum as there’s so much memorabilia, photos, and things in there to look at. Family owned.

Great place, closed right now due to covid 19, but it’s a great, safe old school bar, oldest same family owned bar in New Mexico, 1933, check it out!!

Awesome old time saloon. No frills not a family environment. Sit up to the bar after a nice ride on the motorcycle and throw back a few with your friends! Cash only though!
