The seating was super comfortable, which I appreciated as someone with a disability, and even the bathroom was cleaned regularly which is always a good sign.
But the true highlight of my night was the bartender, Keyba. She was like a social fairy godmother, helping me warm up, mingle, and making sure I felt taken care of the entire time. She checked on me often and genuinely made the experience unforgettable.
Overall, I’d highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for great food, good vibes, and a safe place to enjoy yourself.
I went after work on a Wednesday. Tee was our waitress and she exceeded my expectation. She was patient, very nice, and knowledgeable of the menu. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. We only had shots and they were good.
I highly recommend and I will be returning.
On behalf of the Alexanders, I want to extend heartfelt thanks to Niki Johnson, Tumecia Evans, Tamu Barron, and David Corey Lightfoot—who DJ’d and got everyone dancing, while also bringing my brother’s photos and those of the Class of 1990 crew.
Much love to our extended family—Roteishia and Keoshia Tukes (family for life Hooper Street) for their donations and support, Kendra and Cleothel for attending contributing and donating, Sunny Saylor, Mr. Tony Favors for supporting our girls, and Jaqueese Lagrone for handling some of the catering.
Silk Candler was one of my brother’s favorite spots, and now it’s a family favorite. If I missed anyone, know it wasn’t intentional. We’ll be doing this again on Mike’s birthday, July 16th—Silk Candler went above and beyond, offering extra support. See you then.
**THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING.**
One of the standout aspects of Silk at Candler is the waitstaff. Many of them have been followed over from a former local favorite bar, and you can sense the renewed passion they bring to their positions. They are not only attentive but seem genuinely happy to be there, creating an inviting and pleasant atmosphere for patrons.
The food menu, while featuring some basic bar staples, does not disappoint. The fried chicken wings are a must try. Juicy, crispy, and perfectly seasoned. French fries accompany these well, providing a comforting and familiar taste. For those seeking something a bit more upscale, options like lamb chops and ribs add a surprising twist. The lamb chops are tender and flavorful, making it clear that this is no ordinary bar food.
The drink selection is another high point. Spirits are poured with vigor, offering just the right balance of flavor and strength. Whether you’re after a stiff drink or something more subtle, the bartenders seem to have perfected the art of making sure the alcohol neither overwhelms nor underwhelms.
The spacious interior makes it easy to kick back and relax, or better yet, break out into an impromptu dance. The lively atmosphere often leads to spontaneous line dancing, adding to the carefree, fun vibe of the place. There’s plenty of room to let loose, and this aspect of Silk at Candler only amplifies its reputation as a spot to unwind and have a good time.
However, one minor drawback is the music. While it helps to set the tone for the evening, the speakers are placed a bit too close to the seating area, making the music feel overly loud and somewhat overbearing. A simple solution would be to elevate the speakers to create a more balanced sound distribution, ensuring the music is lively but not overpowering.
Despite being in an older building, Silk at Candler maintains a level of cleanliness that surpasses many typical bars. It’s clear that the staff takes pride in keeping the space welcoming, even with the rustic charm of the aged decor. Additionally, security at the entrance is thorough and professional, providing patrons with a strong sense of safety without being intrusive.
For those unaccustomed to the “hole in the wall” atmosphere, Silk at Candler might come as a unique surprise. Yet, if you’re in the mood for strong drinks, comfort food, and an overall good time, this spot is an ideal retreat. Its mix of retro appeal, lively energy, and top-notch service makes it a hidden gem worth exploring.
It was my first time coming to Silk and I came for the line dancing. I was greeted with so much warmth the moment I walked in. I sat at the first available high-top in the area I wanted, and the server came right over with a smile and brought me water without me even asking. I wasn’t drinking or eating since I had just had dinner, but that didn’t stop them from being friendly, attentive, and clearly enjoying what they do. Because of that, I’ll definitely be back to try the food and drinks next time!
Thanks Silk
