When we pulled into the parking lot, it was suspiciously… not crowded for a Friday night in a busy area. We almost bailed (because no crowd usually means no bueno), but thankfully we stuck with the plan. And let me tell you: we hit the jackpot.
Sierra’s is a tiny little gem — maybe 30 seats total — but what it lacks in size it makes up for with heart (and flavor!). When we walked in, we were the only customers. As you might expect, the service was outstanding — partly because there were no distractions, and partly because I’m convinced it was Sierra herself taking care of us.
But even her wonderful hospitality was overshadowed by the food. The food stole the show.
We started with the classic chips and queso.
The queso: homemade and packed with flavor.
The salsa: also homemade, fresh, and just the right amount of kick.
The chips: warm, hearty, and clearly made with love — not those sad, flimsy chips you get at some places.
My wife ordered the migas with cheese and immediately declared them the best she’s ever had (and trust me, she’s a professional migas critic at this point).
The standout: the migas here use hard-fried tortilla strips, not the usual soft, soggy bits. It added a crunch and texture that took the dish to a whole new level.
She wasn’t a fan of the refried beans because they had a heavy pork flavor (she’s vegetarian), but lucky for me — the carnivore at the table — they were delicious.
I ordered steak and egg tacos, and honestly, they were phenomenal.
The tortillas were incredibly fresh and warm.
The steak was tender and flavorful.
The eggs were cooked just the way I like them (which almost never happens outside of my own kitchen).
Very friendly staff. I’ll be back for sure!
This was our first time eating at Sierra’s and we’ll definitely return, often.
The atmosphere is very local, mom and pop shop…nothing fancy at all, but very clean and orderly. I had no worries ordering anything from the menu.
Migas taco was perfectly cooked fluffy eggs with a great flavor profile. There was a lot of food stuffed on that one taco…great value and bang for the buck for sure.
We also ordered the ribeye steak with eggs, beans and potatoes (good brain food before school to prepare for a state mandated test)! I did not eat any, but my son loved loved it…said it was a perfectly cooked and well seasoned medium rare ribeye. It was thin cut and a near perfect breakfast steak. I say near perfect as I actually think it was too large of a portion for breakfast, but a teenage boy did not mind at all! He ate every bite!
Coffee was a standard brew that was very good. The salsa is a traditional tomato heavy red sauce that gave a tad of flavor, but not much heat at all.
The menu has lots of options ..even pancakes and more traditional American fare.
I’m looking forward to going back and trying out the lunch menu…I really want to try their green sauce!
All in all a 5 star experience…wish I had visited here years ago!
