Fantastic service, great food cooked quickly. Delicious options here. Worth a stop if you’re passing through. The salsa is worth stopping for alone.

The food was good. I didn’t get what I ordered so I sent it back and it was a long wait to get my chimichanga, but when I did come, it was delicious. The chicken was very well seasoned and the sauce was creamy. I’m pretty sure they gave me the same beans and rice, though from the first plate because they were dead cold when I got them. The salsa is a little on the spicy side, which we enjoyed. The parrillada Sierra especial is definitely what you want to order. I’ve never had anything like this, and it was worth checking out this restaurant for this menu item. I’m pretty sure the tortillas that came on the side were that familiar store brand. We didn’t eat them. The service was good and our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable about the area. The seating and bathroom were very clean.

I have eaten many, many times at Sierra. For a “traditional” Mexican-American restaurant, I have never been disappointed. They make some tasty margaritas, as well.

American Mexican fare. The tamales were not amazing, yet the pork enchiladas were really good. Friendly service and reasonable prices. Best you’ll find in this small town. Only first round of chips are on the house.

Wonderful little authentic Mexican restaurant. The staff was just lovely, very kind with our young children, chatting and keeping them happy with chips and salsa until our food arrived.
The portions were very large and everything was delicious.
Restroom was very clean.
Would love to come back here again!

First, let me preface this by saying that my husband and I hadn’t been to Sierra Mexican Restaurant in Gates, Oregon since they reopened from the fires. We loved it when we visited before.
We returned today and were so happy to see that they were busy! The redesign of the interior looks so nice and the bar area is spacious. Booths were filled and the restaurant was bustling.
As always, we were incredibly impressed by the staff. They are friendly and attentive, and service is quick. They know how to make a fine margarita, too!
Prices were quite reasonable, and I found that we definitely got our money’s worth.
I ordered their house special with 3 enchiladas with sour cream sauce. I made sure to get one of each type of meat (ground beef, carne asada, and chicken). The special comes with rice and refried beans, and the portion of food that you get is quite enough to make two or three meals out of it. Everything on my plate was flavorful and exactly what I wanted! The sour cream sauce is creamy, with a decent amount of spices added. They topped the enchiladas with the sauce, lettuce, and sour cream. Each enchilada was packed nicely with a good amount of meat. And *that cheese*! Perfectly melted and did the perfect stringy stretch with each bite. Definitely a plate I will revisit!
If you’re ever out this way, I highly recommend stopping in and visiting this little gem in the canyon!

Best fried ice cream I’ve ever had! Decided to spend my layover here doing a bus charter for a kayaking group. Enchiladas were good, chips and salsa were good But I’d drive the hour and a half back here just for the fried ice cream, it was so awesome!

Hidden treasure in Gates, Oregon. Of you like Mexican food, this is,a worthwhile stop. Great to have a refreshing meal and liquid refreshment, then stretch your legs before continuing your drive to or from Central Oregon. Very accommodating service. Vegetarian options are available (the burritos are a meal in themselves).
